Nope. No prog scan. no widescreen.

But Subsistence is by far the better version.

The new camera really adds a lot to the game, but does make it far easier.

The finest MGS game and generally just amazing

I always found the new Subsistance camera to be terrible, I constantly had to move it and it had no inteligance to point where I was looking.

Give me the intented MGS3 version anyday. Up nice and high, can be moved off its position to have a look and needs no stimuli from the player.

Very late to the party with this one but finished it today and what an awesome game. The last 2 - 3 hours are especially outstanding stuff. At first I thought that my battle with The Edge was going to turn into a 'turn the system clock forward' job but once I got the hang of it I was able to sneak up on that old fart and lob grenades, job done

Must get round to playing Portable Ops now since I believe that's a direct sequel to 3 isnt it ?

I think Kojima's a misguided, elitist, ignorant jerk who's wildly over-rated and an appallingly bad writer, that the franchise in general has some of the worst dialogue known to man (MGS3 included), that I hated the Boss and all her simpering, meaningless, inane, pseudo-intellectual claptrap about fate, destiny, loyalty and assorted other hoo-hah...

...and the whole ending still got a sniffle out of me. God, Kojima's an ass. A wonderful, multi-talented, visionary, insightful genius of a pretentious ass. I'll be buying a PS3 for #4 and I'm sure like 2 and 3 before it I'll be alternately in hysterics for all the wrong reasons and in heaven.

Yeah man, what I wouldn't give to go after U2 with a sniper rifle. Bono - you're next mate!

Does the original Snake Eater play on a PS3 with no problems?

Eight Rooks sums up MGS perfectly!

                    Cannot wait for installment 4!

Sony's website states it isn't 100% perfect but I've checked my copy and played for around 20 minutes with no obvious probs.

Been wanting to do re-play through the MGS games for ages now before part 4 is release and finally started yesterday. Bare in mind I absolutely love the MGS series (MGS1 being my favourite game ever) and when MGS3 was originally released I finished it about 3 times I think, loved it.

So anyway I just finished playing through the opening section of this. It took me a while to get used to the controls and mechanics of the game again, when I did everything just clicked back into place like when I first played it. Loved watching the cutscenes again, so cinematic, and loved getting back to using the camouflage to help sneak around/take out guards. I did get spotted a fair few times (mainly due to my MGS rusty-ness) but I managed to work my way out of those situations pretty well. To my surprise I did the part where you have to

                        rescue Sokolov

perfectly, wasn't even spotted once! I don't think I managed that the first time I played it, so I was pretty chuffed with that! Oh and I love the Bond style intro, suits the game so well, the song is perfect. One of my favourite moments when I orginally played it apart from the battle with
of course. Off to play some more now

I tried played this again fairly recently too but it just looked so ugly on my LCD TV even using the component cable for PS2. Think I may try again though and just plug it into the CRT downstairs which will look alot prettier!

It really was an awesome game though, one of my all time favourites! Can't remember the bit about

                          rescueing Sokolov

though but yeh the battle with The End was truly awesome!

Been goin through the series myself at the minute. Looks pretty bad on my lcd aswell but it'll have to do. The

                            sokolov rescue

took me about 3 goes. Kept tryin to play mgs2 style and stand about 5 feet in front of guards.

Really enjoyin replaying this though. I'll be done in time for the mgs online beta then we won't have too long to wait after that.

Oh, Jesus. Even if I ignore the nonsensical plot, the terrible, terrible writing and the godawful pacing I just - gah - how can anyone enjoy the ****ing song? How? I swear, anyone tries to sing "Somedaaaaay, you might feeeeed, onatreefrog" (or whatever it is) within earshot of me I will not be held responsible for my actions. Dear God, and I thought MGS 2's ending song was bad.

                              And I'll still buy a PS3 for MGS 4.
