I think it's a disc problem; it happens on mine too. I think, HD loader aside, you'll just have to deal with it; it didn't really bother me too much after a while.

There are 2 new camos for download

Only trouble being they are for the Japanese version not the US one

      http://www.konamijpn.com/products/mg...age_index.html

      'Yodobashi' & 'Santa'

The Japanese camo download section also shows you the 2 extra face paints and 3 costume camo you get from different MGS CDs.

I hope they make these ones available to the US sometime soon!

Umm .. I have a save file with the game completed and some extra items.
Now I want to continue that save file but on a different difficulty setting - how do I do that?
Loading that saved game results in starting the game over again on the same difficulty. I don?t know why I would want to do that ..

You dont ... is the simple answer... there are a lot of things to collect on MGS:SE, the bloody frogs for one thing..

Yes, I know there are a lot of things to collect.
But I played on easy the first time through and feel ready now for bit more of a challenge. (it?s just that I would like to carry over all the camos and the few extra items I got)

As it is now the sound stutters 4-5 times EVERY time I try to call someone on the codec. I don't have a HDLoader and the PS2 lense does not need a cleaning, so I'm all out of ideas.
It does the same for me, three times (background jungle noises) briefly before someone usually speaks on the codec, but I didn't find it too inteferring. The codecs never jumped when people were speaking.

Yeah I think this is one game that greatly benefits from the HD loader, going into the Menu's as well , changing camo is much quicker.

Dunno if anyone else noticed this other great Kojima touch, but Ocelot's eyes are constantly squinting in brightly lit environments, like an ocelot would do. His eyes also have a kind of dark outline as well, like an ocelot. I guess his love for his hat is a metaphor for preening himself too.

There was something similar in The Twin Snakes. Solid Snake's eyes were that of a snake.

Oh and another one, at the end

when you are in the field of lily's, theres a shot showing a top view of Snake and The Boss. The flowers around The Boss are full of life, whereas those around Snake seem dead in comparison. I guess this can be taken even further with the colours of there sneaking suits, The Boss' being white (Life), and Snake's being black (Death)

                  Great stuff !

So let me get this straight...in three hours of game time (so says the save) I've moved from the start point and met somebody, then walked back. I've then walked to the meeting point again.

Three hours. It took less than half an hour to do this while playing - three hours. That's two and half hours of cutscenes and I've not really achieved anything yet...!

                    !

All I seem to be doing is sneaking in a forest until I eventually get spotted (usually by the first person) and then running to the next area, where I hide until spotted...repeat until I reach a dead end and I have to kill everything.

                    Whoop?

So far, so meh, to be perfectly honest. At least the cutscenes are quite engaging.

Pete, its exactly the same way I feel about this so far. Its why Im struggling so much to get into it also. I must be crap too as Im continually spotted by the first guard I come across.

Hmm. Did you lads play the second one much? The dynamics are extremely similar.
Try and remember the 'cone' of vision the guards have - you can't see it in this game, but it's there. If you look at it in this screen:

...and now imagine the one in MGS3 is bigger by about 5 degrees, and you have the size of their cone of vision.

The key things to do are:
                        • Crawl
                        • Keep the right camo on at all times
                        • Use analogue up till about 5 metres from guard, then SNEAK (with d-pad)
                        • Tranq if necessary (and if you have the gun, of course)

Kojima really has forced stealth on you in this game, and you have to be quiet and fully aware at all times. For the first guard, just watch his patterns, be patient, stay well hidden in the right camo, and sneak up on his when his back is turned.

Is it possible to sneak up behind the enemy and grab him without him turn around with the ! mark above his head appearing??? I just can seem to get close to them without them turning around and spotting me, never used to have this problem in the other 2 games??

                          Comment

You can, but it is much more difficult. As I say above, make sure you sneak (using the d-pad) - it's a much slower walk than any analogue stick press, but it's totally silent. Get to the equivalent of about 5 metres away using an analogue walk, then switch to sneak using the d-pad.
