Having not touched my Pro Evo 4 on the PS2 since it was released on live I was fired it up tonight for my mates coming round. It made me realise something... Pro Evo on XBox live is NO WHERE NEAR the quality that the game should be!! I had 6 of the fastest, fiercest games I have ever had and of all the 50 or so games I have played on live not one of them compared to the gaems I had tonight.

My point is simple... Pro Evo 4 is not an XBox game and even more NOT a live game, Pro Evo on the PS2 is how the game should be played and only tonight playing it again on the PS2 have I realised how good, fast and exhilirating the game can actually be.

Only the Pro Evo PS die hards will see my view and I hope the rest understand. My XBox copy is for emergency use only, and for the league I am involved in with the boys from this forum.

PS. For the newbies to Pro Evo.. those small delays and less than smooth animations on live are not suppose to happen... Apologies for any noses that are out of joint
I am now firing up my Master League on the PS2 that I started and will play this for around 8 hours, hehe.

Pro Evo on live was a nice touch but has been horribly implemented. Maybe they will get it right next time.

Many will slander this view but I hope the boys who have been true to there Pro Evo PS2 origins will understand

Sorry mate . Id agree with the xbox live opinion since its lazily implemented. However im a pes/we die hard, ive been playing it for years and only play on 6* these days and for me console specifics dont come into it. Online its lazy and laggy. Offline its more or less identical between the two console versions. I cant see any difference bar the pad. even so with an hours practice the S pad is more than adequate. Indeed im pulling off more moves now than i did back on the ps2.
With a little actual effort on the players part to adapt console alliegences dont come into it.

i also dont see in any way how its 'not an xbox game'. In what way?

Basically, my view is fuelled by the online / multiplayer ability it offers. I dont doubt for a second that the single player portion is as authentic on the XBox. What I meant to get across was that the experience on live NO WHERE near compares to that of playing it with your mate beside you... I have had some terrible nights on live playing Pro Evo and have been really let down by the quality of how it plays... tonight I was reminded how good the game should run and it made me feel that the XBox live implementation is as you say 'lazy'.. oh, how I have tried to use the controller S, many a night, but it just doesn't offer me the same as the Dualshock!!

I am Xbox man all the way but for me Pro Evo will always be played as it should on the PS2. All my mates only have a PS2 with a copy of Pro Evo, hence I lean towards playin it on the PS2...

I even have a pad convertor to play it on live but it doesn't work cause the live play is mostly poor.

Have had some great games against boys from here no doubt. I meant it will always be a game I prefer on the PS2 by 'not an Xbox game', this may change in time and practice but for now, my PS2 copy will be doing the most spinnning

            Fancy a game?? Hehe!!

I would say how the game has been developed with the PS2 control pad in mind, this is more than ample evidence IMO. Horses for courses en' all that, but it doesn't work as well on the S-Controller than it does on the DS.

I would agree that the Live portion has been lazily implemented and feels sluggish, but the offline mode IMO doesn't really do an awful to quell those problems either. It's a missed opportunity to really bring the game upto speed (WS support, updated rosters etc.), as it is though, I have to agree with Mardi - PS2 version is still the one for me.

id agree its a missed opportunity. Though for whatever reason konami have been constantly missing opportunities with the series for years now. what i was saying was that control differences aside its the same game on the xbox. No worse at the end of the day.

And for that reason, that it is the same game, it will always be played on the PS2 before anything else. The XBox version brings nothing knew to the table, the live is poorly imlpemented and the core of the game is identical... live play feels stuck on!!

Its great to be able to lay you boys but it doesn't feel like the Pro Evo I know and cherish when playing on live... THIS is what has upset me!!

Also, Celtic crashed out of the European cup and failed to qualify for the Eufa, hehe. Not bitter at all had to take it out on something and the forum was on

I agree with you and I bought the game expecting this tbh.
I not played that many live games but of the ones I've played only SF3 is just as enjoyableas offline, outrun 2's lag was just a joke, wasn't a fan of Burnouts online. Pro evo does have lag when not hosting and it is annoying when your players seem to be at a disadvantage and commands don't get through, I can forgive it though, for now. Konami have promised a patch and I think people should reserve judgement until it has been released. I have had some great games on live and although its not that same as in the same room with my mate I find that online games generally arn't.

Bleeders, had some games against your gamertag last night, but I'm not sure if it was you or your brother? Played 2 games against AC Milan and then 2 against Barca...?

Managed a fairly undeserved 3-2 win in the first game and then got wallopped 7-0 in the return fixture! My only excuse is that I was trying to eat a pizza every time the ball went out, but I was still completely useless and the scoreline was pretty justified.

Then came the 2 games against Barcelona with me as Juve. Lost the first one 2-1 despite having most of the play, but then managed to win the next one 1-0 despite Barca having loads of incredible chances, so I suppose it evened out (that's how I justify it anyway ).

Oh and Moodmon, sorry we keep missing each other - we'll have to have a game soon mate.

Ah, it was you fella! ^^ Enjoyed those games!!

Yeah, you played my bruv for the first two games (AC/United), then I jumped on with Barca. You should go with Juve mate IMO as your main team. Gave me some problems at the back and I like to think I defend pretty well.

To Sam and some others, you didn't miss me. I simply couldn't connect to your games, and I'm guessing it was vice versa. I'm going to have to try and sort that out, it's happening in a lot of games recently.

I am absolutely and officially stinkin' rubbish at this game. Just rubbish.

My record currently stands at something like won 4, drawn a few, lost 15! I don't think there is a person on my friends list that has a worse record...

I think my terrible record may be something to do with the fact that I have never once had a dropper though, so being useless does have it's benefits.

I'm going to start hosting some games to see if my luck is any better - hopefully my oponent gets loads of lag.

I might open up a service : "Add my Gamertag to improve your stats! - ?1 per game."

Add my gamertag G-funk and I'll give you some free trials. Prepare for the ultimate humiliation if you lose though!
