I've had one go of this and from what i've played so far, it's surprisingly good! Seeing the movies and hearing about it didn't really fill me with hype after Shikigami No Shiro II being a bit rubbish and the latest few dreamcast games being simply average, but playing Chaos Field has revived my interest in the Dreamcast.
First stage was composed of 2 small mini-boss fights, and a big boss fight. Not sure if all the levels are laid out like this aswell.
The 3 ships you can choose from are Mixed Blue, Flawed Red, and Fake Yellow, all with different attributes. The shot weapon is different, and the A+B special is different, but the X+B and Sword weapons remain the same throughout all 3 ships.
**** me it's difficult!! The moment I hit the Chaos Field, it's bullets flying towards you in all directions. The difficulty level may be stupid, but it's the most fun i've had in a shoot-em-up in a long time, and in my mind comes very close to Ikaruga greatness. Something about the way the game plays just makes me grin and celebrate whenever a miniboss goes down. Oh, and have I mentioned the music? IT'S FANTASTIC!
Saurian, I can see you lapping this up.
