Boss tactic (Leviathan's Heart) - Swordmaster, Agni & Rudra
Ignore the Reaper enemies completely, your targets are the right and middle parts of this 3 part boss - completely ignore the left part also.
On start, equip A&R
- you can Air Hike with this weapon so get over to the right part of the boss and jump up once.
- this simple cancel takes massive damage off the boss, /\ button, O O, /\, O O, /\, O O to infinity! You'll drift downwards slightly, when you are getting a bit low use the Air Hike you have stored to get the height back and start again. The Reapers cant touch you as you're airbourne.
When this part of the boss dies (doesnt take much with these slash cancels) rush over to the middle part and buss the same slash cancels at the top section of this part as it's countering with the laser beams. The beams and reapers cant touch you - you dont have to wait for the green weakpoint to be exposed, you can slash at the upper section of this part of the boss whether it's exposed or not.
It should be destroy the right, attack middle (right now restores), destroy right, destroy middle - done (it's all good on Hard and D must Die too, takes another cycle but it's the same)
Dante's Shadow: (nothing but Rebellion, any Style)
SOOOOOO easy! All you have to do is open the shutters as it approaches and attack. Just leave Rebellion equipped; on Normal each shutter takes 3 slashes to open on Hard 5 slashes and so on - the key is to deliver 1 less slash than it takes to open the shutter as a setup, ready for when the shadow is in range then you deliver the final slash and let him have it). There are only 2 variations, either you have enough time to deliver the final slash as the shadow approaches or you dont - if you dont you simply roll out of the way and get that final slash on it's next rush (which always happens straight away)
The boss will either:
Rush at you and attack with a Beowulf style attack, set a black marker on the floor and darkness rises out of it or a ranged fireball attack. All are avoided with 1 roll.
(normal mode as an example)
When the shadow is in the middle dont lock on and run against a shutter, slash twice, wait for the boss to rush in and deliver the final slash opening the shutter (you now go Devil Trigger and use powerful slashes, like standard Rebellion 3 hit); if the boss is already rushing in roll out of the way (the boss attacks then returns to the middle) and then run back to the same position by the shutter ready to give the final slash when he rushes back in.
After you've finished using the attack chance you just set up roll out of the way and run against the next shutter with no lock-on and repeat the process. The only thing you need to look out for is the darkness that rises from the floor usually after you've finished an attack chance, roll out of the way - the fireball he busses misses you by miles even on harder settings.
If using Royal Gaurd you'll see that you can substitute rolling out of the way during the shutter setup with a parry instead, carry on with the formula using parry instead of roll. When you have 3 parries in a row stored, use Release (lock-on, forward + O) within your attack chance and watch his life bar vanish!
You can actually open all the shutters and light up the whole room for a bigger attack chance if you're quick enough - it's no problem on Normal but on Hard and above the time you have to do it is much less and tbh it's faster and safer to use the meth above.Last edited by Saurian; 02-03-2005, 16:58.

Wooo! Nice one Saur ^_^
It's scary though, some of those tactics are the same as mine! Especially the leviathan one, leave the far left bit,
but I aint been rinsing the infinte juggle...yet!
I swear the tactics are mad when you change up style for each boss, like with Royal Guard **** all the dodging if you know the attacks coming! That styles all up in the enemies face if you get it right!
Gunslinger's quite nice too, I always leave a high powered weapon next to E&I, use them mainly for combo/distance linkage and then in a crowd switch to Lady's weapon(forgot name) use that, then mopp up the mess! ^0^ The scorpion type pull in with that weapon is too much! Come here!!
The slam down and multiple missiles attack I use when I've killed 1 enemy and surrounded with others weakened non weakend etc ,instead of the jump on them move you use it then, Dante slams the gun into their body 1 hit, then all the missiles fly out into surrounding targets, again easy mop up afterwards.

I started playing it last night.. what can I say? Yep, it's Devil May Cry again. Nothing else could induce that level of frustration! I must have tried 15 times in a row to defeat Cerberus - it completely evoked memories of battling that big lava spider the first time. I was actually starting to get a little bit pissed off with the controls... I always had a lock on one of the heads but the lock kept shifting to it's leg without any apparent input from me. Extremely annoying. Still, I kicked it's ass in the end! (thank god this game isn't as harsh with the continues as DMC was).
Finding and beating the 1st secret mission was a bonus as well - I think going all the way through DMC several times I only ever found one of the secret missions so it's good news to have got one already.

Yeah I need to find better exploits for the Cerberus fight, I fight the easiest meth is to actually lock onto a foot and alternate between them while dodging his various doggy attacks.
Also
I find a good tactic for the horse last night, you just ride it!!! Also found the good spots to get on and off! ^_^

When I whacked his feet I wasn't doing damage! That's why I was pissed off they kept overruling my original lock-on.
My tactic was to get in amongst his three heads, leap up and flay the sword wildly around with the circle button, usually hitting at least two if not all three at once. (Until I ended up locked on to his feet again.)

You get overruled if a foot is closer cos hitting his feet cause him to fall down and stun (it's the main free-attack chance, to do damage without taking any you knock him down and then attack the heads), the other chance is when he charges you and gets dragged back by the chains.Last edited by Saurian; 03-03-2005, 14:31.

I'd played through and completed the Japanese version, but now I've played the USA version. JESUS CHRIST!!! I dunno if its just me but it seems a LOT faster? Can anyone else compare like this? Have I lost my mind, I dunno but the US version seemed furious right on the first mission.
I'd lost my love for the game after completing it but now I'm gonna play through again on the US version!

Agni & Rudra (i think their called that on mission 5) are totaly destroying me but i think i've almost got them beaten. I feel sorry for people playing the US version if they have to play through the whole of a mission like this every time they get beaten.
Saying all that this game is so much fun, even for someone like me who would be the first to admit that they are not very skillful when it comes to these sort of games.
Also does taunting actualy have a role to play in the game or is it just ther for show?
