ft: ft: ARG this control system is pissing me off, I want Circle to use as melee attack but it turns out that when you change it that circle is then still "action" button so every time I go to attack items on the wall to open doors suddenly I am stuck in a loop of reading the text that the game gives you. Absolutely pathetic.

I also changed the controls to be more like the US DMC one, with O button for melee.

I also found the action thing annoying but found that there is a little technique to getting it to work. You have to slash then back away then slash again to stop it from going into the loop. it's not as effective as mashing it but it works ok and after the first few missions, the text reading pretty much goes away.

it's like there is a proximity limit that you have to be within for it to trigger the text. if you stay far back enough it's ok

Yeah its not to much hassle any more but I was so annoyed because a) I was getting my ass kicked by a boss and b) this horrible loop.

I had the same problem. I just reset the controls to default and had to readjust. I still keep pressing the wrong button now and then. Think I'll have to swap my US DMC1 for the JP version.

Just started it on Dante Must Die mode...

Ouch. I've just been pwned. THe ramp up of difficulty from Hard to DMD is just incredible. I think I've found the limit of my abilities ^_^

Ok, a bit more...played it for three hours and I'm only up to stage 6 because I'm just replaying stages to get more orbs (as Saurian suggested iirc). Currently playing with Trickster although I think I will change it soon because I've not really been taking advantage of it so far

Awesome game though and tbh I think it will only get better towards the end

Seem to be at the same stage with games as you RLENCH got this this afternoon an absolute gem so far... the style system seems to be back on track after taking a break in DMC2... in fact everything seems to be back on track from 2 whihc is great!! Have also just been toyinh with the each of the styles to get them levelled up.

First boss is class... once you nail his patterns he is breeze. Can see this is just gonna keep raising the stakes till the very end... the standard of games out at the moment is superb!! Dante is most definitly back!!

Just cleared Mission 13 and am loving this. Maxed the Gunslinger style and have moved onto the swordmaster style now.

Still haven't managed to S rank a mission yet but thats not for a lack of effort.

Boss fights so far have been great

Can't wait to see what awaits me as I progress further

Got this for 4 crap games and a quid today.

My god, this game is bloody hard. I guess it's the same for everyone. I felt properly insulted after dying the upteenth time and the game says "You have unlocked easy mode". Yeah, I suck, thanks.

Anyway the second boss is totally owning me. Wasn't having much love with gunslinger, so I switched to swordmaster and it was much better. I can get his bar down to a tiny fragment, chop off a head, but he's all over me with his multiple attack patterns. Bah. I absolutely love the disco floor fight though. It's the reason why I'm happy to play the level over and over again.

Am I going to get better at hitting people? I'm still hitting dead air 50% of the time..

when he teleports jump in any direction and you should evade his attack. I used the guns to knock him back then steamed in with the sword for maximum damage, rinse and repeat

You will get better the more you play it, I was the same at first

Or alternatively, switch to the royal guard fighting style and block his every attack whilst laughing in his face maniacally and swearing at the screen(well that's what I did). Then you counter and pwn the bastard

There is a ratehr easy way to take him out, but it is kind of lame.

simply stand in a corner and spam your guns, all you have to worry about is dodging the ice attacks. You can even attack the heads when he charges you with your sword
