According to Tsuyoshi Tanaka (in the Edge interview) Trickster is the "DMC2 mode" which basically makes it the easy setting. Royal Guard is for hardcore gamers also apparently?!

Thanks for the explanation, Saur. I was wondering what differences the styles have (since I've intentionally avoided a lot of information about this game - I want it all to be new to me when I play it) and that's just what I wanted to know.

I'll be buying this in a few weeks

(one more!) OI! WTF? dont be slagging off the Dantology!! Trickster is wicked! It's like playing DMC1 style, you have the same invincibility on your O button evade as Dante did on his roll on DMC1. Level it up to Level 2 and you can dodge twice and in mid air (with the sword equipped you can go - jump, mid air dash and jump again off that, this works in aircombos too) - Level 3 powers it up further. You can run up and along walls, you dont have to worry about evasion at all in Trickster, as soon as you hear an enemy hit O and you're out of there. Remember that each style gains style rank points different, in Trickster avoiding signposted attacks with O button will increase your style bar - so you stay in combo even while on the defensive.

None of the styles are an easy style tbh - they are all proper sick in their own way, there's no point in the game where you HAVE TO use a certain style, it's all down to what you prefer. I'd agree that Royal Guard is the expert style tho, to be sick at royal guard, proper off-the-hook nasty with it you have to learn all the enemy attacks and parry like mad - you need to be The One at it when you're surrounded!

I used Swordmaster the most for awhile .. but now im giving all the styles a good go.
Trickster is really useful when your fighting

          virgl for the 2nd time..

having the extra dodge moves helps due to his fearous attack patterns.

I'll try Trickster next time through I think. Using Swordmaster again now I've got

teh gauntlets - they may not be Ifrit by name but they share a hell of a lot of moves. (Am I imagining it or are there less DT-specific moves that you can buy now? I think the only one I've seen so far is Air Raid)

Up to mission 17 now should be finishing tonight. Problem is I never realised Mission Select actually lets you go back and raise skillz and cash to carry over into the main game!

            omg

Yeah man, that's one of the best things about it being able to go back and SSS the Missions and Bosses. XD

Capcom has stunned me since the beginning of 2005.

Resident Evil 4, Shadow of Rome and now Dantes back-in-form Devil May Cry (3).

I'm doing bloody coursework at this minute and I'm waiting for the postman to come as he is always late (comes to the door at noon!).

Saur, your comments make me cringe. I loved the first game with a passion, although I only did it on Normal mode (seven times!) and I aim to fully complete this one to the max.

Where the hell are the reviews I say? Only a magazine has reviewed it, after looking on gamerankings (90%). I am also looking forward to what the reviewer on this site has to say too, as well as Eurogamer.

So... Is this better than the first in your opinions Guys? Or as good as?

                  Cheers.

It's an evolution of the first game. You'll ove it. I like them just as much, but in terms of gameplay this wins.

I can't watch the cutscenes in this game without expecting to have to react and press a combination of buttons at any time.

Im seriously loving this game. I dunno what they were doin when they made devil may cry 2! this game is just on another level.

Im loving the gunslinger mode i've managed to max out the level of the gunslinger style plus my guns also. You can do some sick ass combos if you keep alternating the guns, gotta post up a vid soon. Still gotta get to usin the swordmaster style but until then im just gonna stick with bein a sick ass cleric!

This is still a bit hazy as I don't own the game yet......

                                BUT....

when using the Doppleganger style or during mission 19, it is possible for a second player to control your partner. It's done by plugging a pad into port 2 and pressing start. Can anyone confirm this? Saurian?

This information was taken from the GameFAQs board, so I'm not expecting any truth in it.
