    welcome to the board.
What? I'm not being pompous, most of the stuff I've said has been mirrored by other people here. I would've actually said the AI was the best aspect of the game, the ATC guys in particular (probably because they moved so fast) were effective at surrounding you and being a general pain.

Doom 3 only had limited locations but I'd take Labs + mars + hell over office + docks + abandoned housing anyday

Also seems quite weird criticising FEAR for its lack of variety in locale when you loved Doom3, which had you stuck in a endless repetition of tight unmanouvreable corridors. Seems you have some double standards in operation here abigsmurf

Doom 3 had a much more varied cast of enemies and weapons though.

FEAR was pretty much just varieties on gun soldiers for 90% of the time. Then there was the flying robots which were just poor...

well, you know what they say.. Opinions are like arseholes, everyone has one.

I finished playing it last night. I enjoyed it. It did drag a bit towards the end though, but that was because i wanted to goto bed

There are some great moments especially when going into an office and

seeing one of those invisible guys attached to a wall

          lol

I can't understand anyone who argues about enemy variety when they are supposed to be fighting an Army. They all wear the same thing for a reason, you know being on the same side.

Its like complaining that the Germans in call of duty weren't varied enough.

Doom 3 had monsters from Hell. I'd expect a bit of variety there, and some off the wall stuff. But fighting a CLONE army...

oh, and Doom 3 had monster closets.

You can't argue that Doom3 is good. It has monster closets.

even WW2 games have you taking out tanks, planes, gun emplacements etc. though and feature some elements of squad based gameplay more often than not

...which is to be expected, its a WW2 game i'd be a bit pissed if there were no tanks or planes or gun emplacements in call of duty

I wouldn't have expected to see a tank rolling down the steps of a skyscraper however.

having some tank like thing being air-dropped through the ceiling and chasing you through walls and down fire escape stairs would be pretty cool actually...

but instead of a tank you had ed209 chasing you around, I almost shat myself when i could hear that clunking, then walked around the corner only to be minced my 6 rockets

And talking about stairs, who could possibly forget the immortal scene where the clumsy ED-209 tries to chase Robocop down the stairs and falls over. Oh, good times!

If they have a scene like that in FEAR 2 (you'll have to hit slo mo and dodge it rolling down the stairs and crushing you to death), I will promise to buy two copies.

tihs otherwise awesome game refuses to run for me for more than 5 minutes at a time with corrupting the screen fully and entering a hard lock. pretty annoying. soft shadows weren't on, i've turned most things down to medium and its 1024x768. my p4/3.0 + 1024 + 6800GT surely shouldn't have issues with this

Sounds like a possible heat issue. All the fans in the PC running ok? Checked the graphics card temps?

I've been having this with mine too, only locked up once within like 2 minutes. But sometimes I'll play it and there were be black blobs everywhere

Just finished this, god damn good stuff.

                                Can't wait for F.E.A.R. 2 hehe.

I also had a similar problem where I was playing and suddenly my computer just shut down without warning. Which didnt really suprise me that much because my computers been spazzing out for about a month, Battlefield 2 + ANY settings = 15fps and jerkynes. I used Sisoft Sandra and it was showing my CPU's temp at 85.7c so for now i've just taken the side casing off and stuf a desktop fan down blowing into it. Works ok for now.
