certain toys show up seemingly at random in the discount shops.
just try to stop off at one or two when your on walks....just last night i managed to get the skipping rope.
and some different foods show up occaisionally too. biscuits and treats etc...again from the discount shops. i havent bought anything from the normal shop for ages.

i dont think they will ever forget tricks unless you delete them, but they will be more willing to do them if you always pet them after they do it successfully.

I'm sure I read somewhere (possibly gamefaqs) that new items and toys become available to buy in the shop after a while. Is this true?

Also, do dogs forget tricks if you don't practice them often enough? I taught Poochie to play dead (lay on her side) on Friday but last night she just wouldn't do the trick no matter how many times I asked her. Sit down, lay down, high-five etc. were all fine apart from this one.
This might not be the problem at all, but: When my girlfriend was training one of my dogs (with his name), it recognised it - but she said it quietly or in a weird way - so it was very hard to replicate it and he'd never respond.

Maybe delete the trick and learn it again, making sure you said the phrase quite flatly.

I play twice a day and in that time I wash and shower each dog, throw the footy around, take each of them for a walk and compete in the available competitions. This gets you approximately 1000 owner points, but I do have three dogs.

Once you've completed the competitions - it unlocks items/toys for picking up on a walk. You don't get automatic access to them in the shops, but you tend to find quite a few 'rare' presents (the ones that don't appear on the map) on the next walk after finishing a competition.

      K.

        Thanks a lot for that.

Poochie seems to be confusing 'lay down' with 'roll over' as both are similar actions. Will have to try deleting one later and trying again.

All this talk of the game prompted me to order it from Yes-Asia. It was shipped in the early hours of this morning so I may see it by the weekend (they do seem pretty fast on their deliveries). I have now printed the Gamefaqs Translation Guide (with the Japanese character encoding) so I hope I won't have too many problems with the game. There has been some useful information here as well... thanks.

My pup won't stop doing this! Trying to teach it stuff is a nightmare!

              Sit - Wiggle
              Lie Down - Wiggle
              Paw - Wiggle

              Dumb pooch!

I am having the same problem, my girlfriend has trained the current dog, and whenever I try and call it or make it do a trick, its just comepletly unresponsive

Guess I will have to wait to earn some more money so I can buy another dog for myself.

Just delete the commands she gave it and teach it to them again. Then watch her expression when it doesn't respond to anything she says.

I have two dogs Terry and Sheena but they get in the way of each other when teaching tricks. Failed miserably on trick competition. On expert Frisbee though, yet to try the assault course proper cus it was to late in the day i think I always want to take them for more than one walk a day n hate it when i can't. Does anyone know is it possible to shove one dog in the hotel if you only own two?

I finally got to play this as Yes-Asia came through with the goods... ordered on the 17th and shipped in the early hours of the 18th and the game was there on the 21st when I got back from shopping... all that and free delivery!!!

Gave the game ago immediately. I had the Chihuahua and friends version and went for a black and white female Shih Tzu (which had the personality that was recommended for a first time puppy). Decided to call her Soo which is apparently Korean and I just found out it means excellence and long-life (what would we do without Google or similar).

No problems getting her to recognise her name but "sit" seems to be mostly ignored which is strange because yesterday I taught her three tricks which she does without any problem. I suspect tonight I will have to delete "sit" and teach her it again.

First walk was of course very short but she did manage to meet two other dogs. I am just about coping with the Japanese courtesy of the Gamefaqs guides I printed (complete with the Japanese characters there).

im getting envious of my friends now

played my mates one and because of his accent, the dog never umderstood a word i said
wouldnt be cool if we could make their names like passwords and say it in a weird way so that none even if they know the word cause they dont have the same voice

                        ah keep dreaming

Now Soo knows Sit, Hand, Down, Jump, Roll Over, Dead (rolls onto her back), Run in a Circle and Sneeze. I just need to get the dog onto her hind legs and then I think it is off to the contest.

I have now got a couple of items while out walking, one being a box of tissues. Not sure what the other one was as I didn't take too much notice of the Japanese text!

Still to do... I have yet to try the frisbee out or for that matter go to the Agility Course.

I have yet to find the correct action to avoid the rubbish on the street...

Saying a word in a unique and unusual way works. I originally had sit and sneeze and every time I said sit the pup sneezed which got mildly frustrating. I deleted Sit and taught it again using a different tone of voice and there is now no longer a problem. The voice recognition in the game must be pretty good.

all you do is grab the leash and yank it away constantly. nothing special at all.

you should start practicing with the frisbee too. some easy money to be had there.

I tried pulling the lead but it didn't seem to have any effect.

Has anyone tried playing the game badly yet? Like when people had competitions to kill their Tamagochi pets as quick as possible; so making a fat lazy dog, bites the mailman, dosent do what you say, chews stuff, pukes or ****s on command - you know like a real dog?!

Or does it penalise you too much for trying such things?
