I played the PAL PS2 demo today in Gamestation. 50Hz and bordered so it was definitely not the US version

Yuck, I hate it. They've ruined it...it's not Burnout and it's not a racing game. It's a nasty mess of a game

no,oncoming traffic can still wreck you,it's only the traffic thats flowing in your direction that you can shunt.

Personally i think the idea is great, certainly opens up great avenues online.Imagine first place is gaining some ground on you and you can't get near enough to take him down, but fear not,you launch a well placed taxi straight up his backside 8)

Also for all you lot moaning about how it does'nt feel right being able to shunt traffic.Well just stay on the oncoming side, then you can still deal with death while gaining extra boost in the process!

Pre-ordered my copy from tronix yesterday

Im half-looking forward to this but I think they should be alot smarter with all these changes to the gameplay.

I loved Burnout3 but one of the oversights is I think they should of allowed the host to configure the amount of traffic, ie: normal/heavy/none. That way once you got bored of racing in thick traffic you could actually just turn it all off and play a 6 player race where takedowns were personal and not just pot luck.

Same goes for Burnout: Revenge. Stick in the traffic density option but perhaps also have a collisions option: normal / forward only.

As someone who really enjoyed 3, and caned it online, the demo for 4 is disappointing. 3 may have been (reportedly) dumbed down from 2, but it was still pretty demanding and punished hitting anything solid pretty well.

4 is just crazy. I'm on autopilot from 3, so I dodge traffic going in the same way, and then I accidentally plough into a pickup and think "oh, god, I'm for it now..." only to watch it scoot off into the distance and score me some stupid combo. Smashing the other cars is fun, the crashes are great and the graphics - especially the backdrops - ARE improved, but the traffic is just terrible.

Even BO3 demanded a fair amount of the player, and it rewarded that concentration and skill. BO4 doesn't demand anything of you, and it doesn't give you anything in return. Disappointing.

I think your missing the point...1st this ia actually a demo that is at least a few months old & this particular track doesn't have a huge amount of traffic. hitting vehicles going in the same direction & avoiding vehicles that come at you are 2 things to think about rather than just avoid anything because of this the game is a heck of a lot more action packed & should allow for a more engaging online experience this is far better then crash instantly because you touched the back of a car also if you'd seen the other levels you could better judge the game all I'm sayin is that this game is absolute mayhem if you don't buy this game then maybe action arcade style crash racers are not for you. Put simply the game looks next gen has a soundtrack that is much more appealing than BO3, has cars that look like cars mans would like to drive on the street & maximised the thrill of high speed action not to mention the stunt filled multiple routes...

I have to say the demo made me feel exactly the same. Regarding feeling 1,2 and 3, they're my fave series this generation and I've been playing 3 all afternoon (I'm stuck at 99.9% coz I can't do the 2 tram rams in 1 race takedown thingy) :P I also got to that 99.9% in the first 3 days of owning it. Still play it but think it'll be a while before I break the 2000 takedown mark which is also needed for 100%.

I'll prolly still get it, but make sure theres something else I want too that I can take it back for shud it turn out to be a dud, I think the lack of music didn't help much for me. As much as ppl moan about the music on BO3, some music is better than no music

I've a feeling the full ver will be ALOT better, tho Burnout as ppl knew it in BO2 has probably gone forever unless they decide to remake 1 an 2 for 360/PS3 with ****hot mega awesome graphics.

Burnout Revenge, at least for me, is what Burnout 3 should had been in some ways. The Crash mode is way better and a return to the old days, the cars are more varied, the tracks have multiple routes, more effects, etc, the way races are organised now till the end is better, since we now have a better number of races and crash challenges, instead of almost crash stuff after 40/50% of the game like on Burnout 3.

The traffic thing appears weird at first, but after some races it's a very natural thing since it's very well implemented on all the race types. Basically, if you love 3, you will love Revenge ^_~

PS: If anyone has some doubts or questions that want to ask about the game until it's released feel free to do it. i'm at 95% and 3 reviews already written for this game o_0 lol

I didn't play the demo, but at the time i had the opportunity to see an alpha and preview version of the game, and all the problems those had, they were gone on the review version. 0_0

One of the most pleasant surprises were the crash challenges. No multipliers (thank god) and now you have to think again how you gonna crash, see well the junctions, too see how you can turn you car after the crash and if you get the crashbreaker. This ones are now related to a certain bar. If you do and plan well your crash, the bar grows up after each car that piles up, and at 100% you get to use the crashbreaker. If you are good enough you can do more than one crashbreaker also.

Many challenges i had to think of other strategies to get the gold medal for example, and some challenges you need certain cars to do better. For example, on some you have ramps and big jumps. In the beginning my cars were not so good for that since they hadn't the necessary speed. When i unlocked the criterion prototype for example...well, things were completely different on that crash that was virtually impossible before lol.

Speaking of prototypes, many of the cars to unlock you need to complete some extra requirments. For example, each course has like 8 extra stuff to do. That could be doing that course without crashing on any traffic (yes, even the ones on your side of the road), doing 3 takedowns on one course etc. And the cars are really different this time, not the "another paint job only" of most cars you had on Burnout 3. This goes for aesthic appearance and also for some stats. I found that heavier cars were better for the Road Rage races, but faster and lighter cars were better for the Eliminator ones for example.

Also, some races are now against time and not by laps. Eliminator for example, every 30 secs the last car is eliminated and on Road rages you have to deal with time also. For example, for every 3 Takedowns your time extends, so if your not quick and agressive things can go bad there. And yep, you car still degrates on Road Rages too, so that is another factor to deal.

Another thing i remembered, you have now crashbreaker on races too. If on singleplayer is fun, imagine this scenario in multiplayer. You suffer a takedown, the camara changes for the Aftertouch. Now, besides you having the opportunity to hit the incoming adversaries, you can ermm, explode them... Get a car approaching yours after it crashed, press the crashbreaker button and do an explosive and revenge takedown lol. Pure madness and fun i must say.
