Been playing this over the last month or so (too many games!) and have to say that I'm thoroughly enjoying it. Yeah, the frame rate chugs, the shooting is point and spray, but the rest of the game, linear as it is is quite intriguing. The story ain't bad too. I also really like the slo mo effects when switching back to the Geist form - especially blowing up a crate and watching the soldiers spin away in bullet time. Oh, and that bit after the heli-pad part where the bad guy blows up that bridge with the two guys on. I just stood and watched the whole thing come down in beautiful slo-mo and the bodies of the soldiers arcing up into the sky before bouncing down to the floor. Marvellous. Oh, and graphically, it's something of a mixed bag. Character models are a bit suspect, but the environment is lushly textured, probably the best texturing I've seen on the cube.
On the whole then, good stuff. And I actually like the fact that it's quite linear. Makes solving a puzzle quite satisfying.
And yes, having just done those training missions, it did seem quite oddly placed. Can see why they're though in the narrative - the whole brain washing thing and all, but still... Should really have been at the beginning...

Originally posted by stainboyBugger, I rented this and enjoyed it at the start but I can't beat CORD at the end of the first level. I know how to do it but it's all a fluke on whether I can make him drop the grenades or not, I'm not getting better with each go so there's no sense of progress That's ruined it for me.
run and dodge, shoot him whilst runnig about and weaken him slightly. when he drops the grenades, go and possess the grenade and explode it.
it's pretty simple stuff.
