That's probably true, just since I'm here, it seems I have to take the bullet

I'm a veteran of all versions of VT and can confirm that the gameplay (both on and off court) is clearly identical to the earlier versions.

The only justifiable criticism outside one may have of the original Sega game is of course the UMD access, which does undermine the overall slickness of the package a tad, but in terms of how much fun the game is to play nothing more than a niggle.

A niggle which is more than compensated for by having Virtua Tennis in your ****ing pocket!

Quick question: Does the difficulty setting affect the World Tour mode, or only the single/tournament matches from the main menu?

Difficulty setting doesn't adjust World Tour - it's just a gradual increase overall.

It does affect Quick Match, Exhibition and I think Tournament. Tournament is the odd one out though as it's basically the Arcade mode, which already scales in difficulty to the end. I'd ask one of the programmers, but it's Saturday

Excellent, that's really what I was wanting to know. It would really have been a shot to my confidence if I had just played World Tour mode for so long on the easiest difficulty setting

It's a fantastic game (I don't recall having played Virtua Tennis before), the loading for each minigame is slightly annoying and the small jerk after each point is also slightly annoying, but it's definately one of the most enjoyable games I've played in a long time.

I'm onto the final match on the boat, but the level of difficulty is rediculous, so I'm going to try and build up all of the remaining player stats to 20s before I attempt it a second time.

No problem - glad to help.

You've got the right idea for the last match though. You need to have both your players stats pretty high - or you'll take a royal beating. Heh, see what I did there?
