Apart from the bugs (which hopefully will be gone in the final version) and the painfully slow waking , I?m loving this.
Incredibly enough, In parts its looks better than the PC version (like the swimming effects) its just amazing for a 3/4 year old ?99 console.
I can?t wait for the finished game.
BTW , You also get the demo if you order RB 6 Part 4 or Black Hawk Down from Gameplay

I'm not into this sort of game, but I have to say technically I think it's the most impressive Xbox game I've seen to date, (I wasn't impressed with Doom 3 tbh tho the ropey PAL conversion might have helped with that :P) it's sharp, clean, generally the frame rate holds up tho I've seen a few bits of slowdown it was certainly nothing to complain about. I'm not into all the stealthy stuff but it worked pretty well and the pistol feels nice and heavy/powerful when you shoot in unlike the weedy feel so many games seem to have thesedays.
Top notch job really showing what the Xbox is capable of, just a shame it's being succeeded in a couple of months time.

The ps2 version was canned well over 9 months ago, I think it was a case of , "yes we will release it for ps2, because it will make us the most money" then after 16 suicides the day after the ps2 porting team started working on it, they decided to cancel it. It would of looked absolute bollocks on the ps2, I'm sure it couldn't do it. unless they did a splinter cell LOOK ITS ALMOST THE SAME GAME style remake for ps2, it was never gonna appen.

just played this and i'm in agreement with everyone about how nice it looks
it looks fantastic
but then you start to play it
i really enjoyed the pc version but this feels likea different game. the aiming controls aren't precise enough, popping people off at a distance just wasn't working
the AI is horrendous compared to the pc version, what happened in the cross over? its a total regression
the animation system is problematic as well. i had loads of enemies just freeze mid animation
and like every other fps except riddick, the close quarters combat was really flawed and the enemies just stand there and take it as they have no melee attack
also all the nonlinearity has gone, which was one of the best bits of the original
so its very pretty but a bit disappointing

if this demo is based on beta or final code i must say that Far Cry Instincts is one of my most disappointing games this year.
the demo is so full of bugs or shortcomings that i thought this was very early alpha code:
- helis suddenly disappearing instead of exploding
- characters were left hanging in the air
- driving sound of my jeep was suddenly absent
- voice samples of enemy were all the same
- pop-up of vegetations such as grass in only a few meters distance
- very low effective range of firearms
- weapon aiming/control could be much improved
- auto aim much too generous
- strange physics - e.g. you can't destroy wooden boxes with heavy MGs but move them around!?
this list is just representing the things i can remember!

picked this up yesterday, played for a bit, and i have to agree with most people in that it looks lush. nice and bright as a tropical island should be, with a good amount of vegetation to creep around in - although i was a bit put off by the regular 'point A to point B' nature of the maps. controls seem to be ok, not too sluggish but the aiming is very loose when you are in the middle of a firefight, with the hitboxes seeming to be twice the size of the bodypart you're trying to pop a cap in.
hopefully being a demo they are going to sort out the character models as well - overly stiff animation and bland, generic 'mercenary' textures.
if they can tweak some of the aiming problems and tidy up some of the artwork it will turn out ok - nothing amazing (apart from the obvious visuals), but solid.
