Yep just back with my copy in hand - ?32.99 in G-Force for all Glasgow based players.

I'd imagine most places will have stock - Probably a supermarket is a good idea as they have no clue about street dates etc - Have wangled something early from Sainsburies before !

Anyone know if this is region free? I have a US xbox and would really love to pick this tomorrow.

I know it's out in the US already but don't fancy waiting!

I can't beleive you can't reconfigure your controls in this game. It's got to be so easy to implement - this is sheer laziness.

I've got this preordered and I'm so gutted I can't use my normal control.

        Goddamn Ubi.

I`ve managed to rent this out and have been playing it for an hour and have to commend the graphics which look great and the level design seems abit more tighter aswell compare to the pc. What I don`t like upto yet is the aiming system which to be frank feels like playing a PC FPS on a joypad. I know they`ve increased the size of aim window to compensate for it being on a console and looked to have added a auto aim aswell but doesn`t feel very satisfying imo. Plus the kill animations aren`t that great either which don`t help. I don`t know, but to me their just feels like a total lack of accuracy to the aiming system. Even with that gripe though I`m still enjoying it upto yet.

You've got to be kidding! I've pre-ordered as well and I usual play FPS's with the Southpaw set-up.

So, are those day to night transitions during every level if you wait long enough or does it progress as you move between maps?

Played the first couple of levels. Preferring it to the PC version so far. And the graphics are really quite remarkable.

They get better. I've just been going up a river and it had this great Apocalypse Now vibe to it. The vehicles are great too.

My only complaint so far (and I'm not that far in) is that being stealthy or not doesn't seem to matter too much. Being stealthy is fun, but whenever I'm seen and loads of enemies appear, killing them is never that hard. The pistol has almost surgical accuracy and I can use to headshot crowds of soldiers.

Yeah been playing it this afternoon on and off and its really quite good. It's taken what I liked about the PC version and dropped what I disliked. Excellent

I got in, turned it on, and got online and found Soi. The online is weird - constantly signing into Live - but has some nice features (the voting in large rooms, for starters). Gameplay online is fab; very much reminds me of a PC game, something like a mod for Counterstrike. Weapons are nicely balanced (although twin Glocks is evil), environments are fun, vehicles are super-fun. It's very lag-sensitive, though.

                        Mapmaker also good.

Oh, and I got mine from Gamestation, so I got the promotion packaging - DVD case inside DVD-sized canvas Far-Cry-branded camo bag. Anyone else got this? Anyone want pictures? It's semi-naff, but quite fun...

Completely. How Ubisoft got this on the Xbox, I'll never know. In many respects (in terms of lighting, water reflections, swimming), Instincts looks better than its PC brother, which is amazing when you consider the hardware this is running on. Up there with Burnout Revenge and Stranger's Wrath for superb use of the Xbox, and how when it's used properly, there's still clearly a heck of a lot of untapped potential.

In terms of the game... it plays like a tighter version of Far Cry. Whereas the first game felt like straight-to-video Channel 5 afternoon film cheese, it's now thankfully just plain cheesy in a Rambo/Predator-style fashion. I'm also liking how Crytek have taken note of Half-Life 2 and gone with first-person narration.

I'm only a couple of levels in so far, but the sunset drenched landscape I'm currently in is gob-smacking... Instincts so far is like a remix... a renvisaging of what went before than a fully fledged sequel. To use a comparison... Far Cry is Evil Dead, and Far Cry Instincts is Evil Dead 2 in terms of the differences both versions have.

And like Soi said... there's a definite Apocolypse Now vibe to the experience... especially in the level I'm currently on. All good stuff. It'll be interesting to see how Valve respond with their port of Half-Life 2 and if they can get the conversion up to the technical standards shown here.

From what I played of it, its like a "best of" compilation, the big jeep chase on the second level is a perfect example of this.

This isnt Developed by Crytek is it??
Thought the xbox version was Dev'd from the ground up by UBI Montreal, could be wrong sure they flash up at beginning of the game.
Last time i heard Crytek were signed upto EA for a new game.....

It is indeed, the same team that does splinter cell.
