No. The PS3 runs PS2 games on PS2 hardware, so the only improvement you might get is quicker loading times.
Doesn't the game support 60Hz and Widescreen anyway?

I just played and finished this game for the first time ever on Saturday. I spent 8 hours getting it finished. What a game! I literally haven't finished a game in years. I played it on PS3 with the 480p and widescreen options turned on in the menu. The PS3 did NOT do it automatically. It will still run at 480i, 4:3 unless you change it yourself. It looked beautiful to me, and I'll be playing through it again, and again until I can reach the Secret Garden just as soon as I get the TV back to myself again
      Kept you waiting, huh?

Yes, it does and using the (official) PS2 component cable helps make the game look a lot cleaner and sharper around the edges but considering the PS3 is powerful I assumed that the PS2 games would run faster and smoother thus offering a better frame-rate but it seems that it isn't the case unfortunately.

Thanks for the quick answer though!

That is just what I wanted to hear and is a jolly good reason to keep hold of the game along with a dozen other games I have waiting to be played so there won't be a draught of any kind when I do eventually get myself a PS3 one day.

It is nice to see a few people still playing and appreciating the game.

          Even in Japanese it rocks.

I've got Ico coming now too

For me this has been one of the defining titles of my life. Stunningly beautiful in every way.

Yeah this game is my favourite game from the last generation, I loved Halo 2, Metal Gear Solid 3, Resident Evil 4 and God of War.....but this was just unique for me. The artistic vision and sheer scale of the Colossi was just spectacular. One word to describe this game would be Epic. Anyone who hasn't played this, should definately give this a try!

Just picked this one up for the PS3 (Along with Okami and FFXIII) & I must say I am excited about getting stuck in!

Before I start, I have read here that there are lots of "Hidden moves" that make the game more enjoyable. Can anyone give me a run down of what moves I should know?

Must say, the PS2 had some pretty strong games in its later years! I think these three will be keeping me busy.

I'm sorry I avoid Sony EU products, and opted for the NTSC-U one. (With Emotion Engine)

I have been playing through this very slowly (something like 1-2 colossi a fortnight), mainly because I'm finding it so frustrating to play! The game overall is good, but the camera and controls are really spoiling it for me now as the battles become harder. 'Battle with the colossus' has become 'battle with the camera' or 'battle to get your horse to travel in the direction you want without it doing a sudden 90 degree turn because you approached a slight hill'.

I've got up to the snake-type colossi in the cave, and while I now know how it is defeated I have lost all motivation to keep playing because of the above annoyances. I don't have the patience to put up with irritating quirks like this nowadays... daresay I'll go back to it eventually, but the game will probably get shelved for a month or two.

There are quite a few, but none will make the game "more enjoyable" because they are essentially just nice touches of animation. Infact discovering them by accident is more enjoyable than having them explained to you.

It's a beautifully simplistic game - so discovering the subtlty of the controls on your own is something I'd advise instead

I eventually made it to the 15th colossus before the controls got the better of me and I quit. It's a shame as it definitely had some very impressive moments.

Picked this up yesterday from GAME (£9.99 for the special edition sealed with postcards etc).

It's fantastic - Looks very low res on an LCD but the overall quality still shines through. The horse is a thing of beauty - so much more satisfying (imo) than Epona in TTP.

Only did the first colossi and up to the 2nd but had fun doing so - I'm not looking at this as a long term proposition just something to have a blast on now & again.

I just kept thinking "if only it had been on a more powerful platform........"

I owe it to myself to play it after enjoying ICO so much !

Dont wanna spoil anything but there is a Collosus fight in this game that made my jaw hit the floor when it started playing out...

                              The Eagle / Hawk fight

... figuring out how to get on it and then the battle when you do... highlight of the game for me.

And the horse in Collosus is the best ever... standing on its back, riding at full speed and then using the bow = happiness. Also, some great little touches where you have to use that kind of move for fighting Collosi... magical game.

That's my favourite bit of the game as well, really stunning fight that was. Every now and again I get an urge to go back and re-do SotC, and one day I swear I will.
