Interesting that people are complaining about motion sickness with Half-Life 2 (I've read similar complaints on other forums)...

People mentioned the same thing last year with the PC version (though I didn't feel it myself), maybe (frame-rate issues aside) it's a problem inherent within Source that affects some?

I would have thought theres less chance of motion sickness with HL2 to be honest (due to the slower moving nature of the character a'la Halo 1), as i said in review. I personally don't and have never suffered from it, but i know on something like 'Return to Castle Wolfenstein' where the character moves at a real pace my g/friend got ill just looking at it. Maybe it's the constant pendulum pace of the framerate in Half Life 2 that causes it, maybe problems with eyes having to constantly adapt to the pace???

I remember some people getting motion sickness when playing the original Doom. Think its down to the individual rather than the engine.

I would have thought the same, but the comments on motion sickness with Half-Life 2 were more widespread than for a usual FPS, though this could be down to its popularity. Maybe it has something to do with the way Freeman doesn't possess any weight on his movement. By all accounts, he moves as light as paper (I don't know if this is the same for the Xbox version).

Yeah a friend of mine still cannot play Doom, or any FPS for that matter, it seems to be the case of the individual rather than the game.

He he, I do care about the game more than anything else - but if I can't get good 60Hz from PAL I'm going with the US version (I still remember playing the US Halo after playing the UK version and noticing how much smoother it was).

Of equal concern... EA haven't removed progressive scan from the PAL version, have they?

I know some publishers have a very odd habit of still doing this in Europe.

Hmm.. Im not sure about Prog. Scan (don't they always bloody remove it for us poor UK sods!!), I run Half Life 2 from the H/disk, System set to PAL 60hz, and running in NTSC video, but i would presume runs at 60hz, I would think its too important a game for the Xbox not too.

Well I?ve never suffered from motion sickness before in any game and i regularly play online fps. Halo2, Quake 4, BF2 to name but a few. But for some reason playing this makes me want to spew! My head just starts spinning and i can't look at the screen. I never had any problems with the PC version either. I think it maybe down to the fact i'm rushing through the xbox version as i know where i'm going and so i'm doing everything in double time. Where as with the PC version i was methodical and did everything at a slow pace in order to digest all the wonderful details of the game.

Is this just a port of the PC version without any extras?

Great news on the southpaw/face button/d-pad option ... very well thought out (must have had a left-hander on the team). Not so great to hear about the motion sickness issue. I don't have a problem with most fps's (not that I play that many) but I get the feeling I'll be among those who it'll affect (Dark Forces on the PC nearly put me on my back).

Motion sickness has only ever effected me on Timespllitters, it was so bad I had to lie down, felt really awful, hope it doesn't come back for this, seen as the controls are so well thought out.

Are there anything for XBOX Live ?

Waiting for VG+ to ship the game.

Just been playing through my second hour, gets better (got the machine gun..wohoo!) but that bloody pendulum framerate doesnt help when in a tight spot, also can be hard to naviagate some parts due to barrels etc. blocking the doorway, actually died twice trying to move a barrel!
