Djmax Portable - PSP rhythm game

Hmmm... How come no ones has made a 1st play of this game yet?

I have to admit I was getting a little bored of Taiko no Tatsujin the other other rhythm PSP game available so this made a refreshing change.

Anyway, it's like this. Imagine a Korean version of Beatmania.
Presentation is very much bright pump it up style. The interface and backgrounds seems so polished and everything is all in English!

There's a simple easy mode where you use 4 buttons and a normal mode where you use 6 buttons which is funny enough more harder and more complicated. Also, your shoulder buttons can speed up the notes that come down up to a maximum 5x speed or slow it down to 0.5x speed.

I've not counted how many tracks there are but they are varied and there some good drum and bass ones in there too...

Those familiar with rhythm games will be at ease with this.

My own slight niggle is this. The action on what's on the screen is not high enough. I suppose this couldn't really be helped on the PSP widescreen.

All in all, I'm enjoying this and I envy the people getting the Djmax Portable limited edtion!

The official site has all the music (54 in total) which you can find here http://djmax.co.kr/

The videos look like they could be taken from Pump It Up Exceed and the gameplay looks just like Beatmania however the only thing that's stopping me from buying this ASAP is the fact that I've tried playing Beatmania on a pad and it's no fun whatsoever once you attempt anything remotely difficult, having said that though I used to have to play Pop' n Music (5 line only) with a pad before I got the proper controller & that wasn't too bad.

I have to admit, I'm really, really loving this game now.

Some of the tracks have insane notes but it's good for people who like it hard like me!

I mentioned earlier that the screen was a little low for this type of game.
Maybe that comment is a little off 'cause I have been playing this game at 5x max speed!

That's bizarre. Sorry about that. I've just gone looking elsewhere and no luck at all. Weird.

I've had to get my mate in Japan pick it up from Play-asia from me, and it's not come yet, but I'm looking forwards to this. I've played the PC version before (with a IIDX controller, natch), and as a huge Beatmania fanboy I'm quite looking forwards to something challenging

                      Enemy Storm is great, too.

A post on the news page of insertcredit gave the impression that the LE version was only released in a batch of 1000 units, which could make geting your hands on it very tricky.

Yup, for those too lazy to search here are a couple of videos nabbed from insert credit.

                            Clicky

                            Insane!
