I got this as a promo freebie last week, and played it most of the w/e pretty solidly, yet I didn't get a single achievement, they're pretty tough going ( so much for EA games giving easy points ).

It really is a lot of fun, I like the look of the game, I like the way it plays, I like the mayhem that comes from the whole speed of the thing - it's pure arcade adrenaline stuff - and I'm very much looking forward to Burnout 5.

I've liked all the games in this series tbh ( though the golf swing crash mode in 3 I found a bit pants ), so if I want twitch I go to 1 or 2; plenty of room in my gaming collection for this variation imo.

Oh man I'm ****ing loving this game! Nearly got all perfect on the first section (harmless) all bar ONE, where you have to take down 7 cars AND get awesome...which I'm having a lot of trouble with.

This game is just SO much fun...it really is a case of the developers just making a game fun and saying bugger anything else...it's just such fun.

You will be tearing your hair out later on but its such a good game I kinda played it too much and have yet to go back and get more perfects I went back to Burnout Legends after this and forgot I couldnt check traffic...

I've got three after playing a few hours today (I got it today). 2 are very easy, just upload a clip you saved (save any clip for later)...then pick a clip from the top 20 and go to share, it'll unlock another achievement. You don't actually HAVE to share it, just go to do it...

The third was "3 takedowns in a race" which just came during a race...I did remember there was one, but it was still convenient when it happened.

The rest of them look very very hard (except the "play a game online" one which I'll do soon) since most of them revolve around getting perfect on all races, I've NEARLY done that on "harmless" level, but I can imagine it being insane later on.

yep I know the feeling m8 ! I also absolutely love this game !! I still play this alot, and online it's incredibly fun to play ! this is the only game I know were the is no shouting and cheating happening, everybody seems relaxed and having a good time while playing this online.

I got everything on perfect, I just need a few signature takedowns to get a 100% achievement, but so far I couldn't be bothered trying to get them. The online play is to good to be wasting my time getting them signature takedowns...

yep, I must say they used the achievement system really good in this game, there are a few easy ones to get, but most of them you really have to earn them, I have (about) 750 of 1000 points at the moment.

I'm finding it hard to get the perfect achievement for the "Harmless" levels, I just can't quite get 2 of them...

1. Where you have to get 7 takedowns (gold) and awesome...I can JUST get 7 takedowns (sometimes) but never get awesome with it.

2. The last one of the section, the "test drive"...I just can't get the gold!

There's one where you have to complete a totally perfect lap in the EA Le Mans car on the short China stage. It took me a few goes did that bugger.

You know, as much as I'm loving this there are some very very annoying points about it.

For a game that is based around beating a track with a perfect score, which in itself at times can mean you have to restart after one crash, the loading is awful. At times it is 30 seconds to load a track you were playing 1 second previous...even if you smash at the first corner, it's 30 seconds to reload...which at times when you are already frustrated and having to re-attempt it for the 10th time...well, it almost breaks the game.

The texture pop up is wierd too, sometimes the sky texture just changes to a random brownish blob for a few seconds...the music is typical EA too...If EA use ****ING Bloc party in one more ****ING game I'll scream.

But for all it's faults you can't blame them, because they've put the sheer fun-factor ahead of all that and it works. The load-times are the only REALLY bad thing and so long as it isn't your 10th attempt you can just about cope. Though I must admit, the reason I'm not playing it now is that exact reason, after a few hours of play I got stuck and couldn't bare the loading again.

did you try to play it online ?
there you don't have to worry about getting prefect scores..... there you have to fight hard to get to the first place !!

I will be eventually but I'm so tired of getting a game late, then going online and losing every single time. The "matching up" of gamers is a joke on live, despite what Microsoft promise. Unlock a single achievement and you can still get matched against someone with 1000/1000 and 20 hours playtime.

So basically I want to get good at it.

The takedown/road rage races are the ones I'm struggling with...I find it hard to take em down sometimes.

the game still get's played quite a lot online, there are always several games with people that are new to the game , you can see that at the rankings the players have.

<acheivement whore> Scoreboards have been reset for top 20 clips (For the achievement). Would be nice to get this - anyone fancy downloading my clip - it's actually good as well. Road Rage one (The other one is a test). Would happily reciprocate for anyone !!!! Username weightgain2

I just got this this morning, was $40 or so from Tronix, so I thought why not.

I didn't like Burnout 3 much at all. I think after liking Burnout 2 so much, the whole "cowabunga!" "DJ Stryker" crap and licensed music left a bad taste in my mouth (yeah, I know this one has licensed music as well). So when I loaded this up and heard the original Burnout theme song I felt a lot better about it.

To me this is almost exactly what a next-gen game should look like: 60fps with none of that hideous screen tearing, and it's pretty as well

Now I just need to find a zip file of MP3s from Burnout 1 or 2 to replace the music...
