My new most hated enemies : Trolls and Wraiths...

They both just over power me so easily, it's quite frustrating actually because it makes me have to sneak/run a dungeon that is small for the quest.

Mind you, got the skeleton key now, I presume it does what it should?

126 hours now, and a few stats for those interested.

                Days Passed: 588
                Quests Completed: 146
Items Stolen: 5623, Total Fenced: 12,356 ( as you can see, it doesn't pay to be a thief, it's been really under classed in Oblivion )
                Murders: 150
                Creatures Killed: 1614
                People Killed: 871
                Places Found: 190
                Potions Made: 1216
                Books Read: 656
                Skill Books Read: 33
                Nirnroots Found: 25

I reckon there are still more places to find as I've still got a few areas that are a bit barren compared to the rest of the map. Starting to run out of quests now though.

Yeah, got me my Daedroth, good boy. Your right Daragon, the skeleton
ans such are pretty weak, not bad for a 2 second destraction though.
The Daedroth is great for tight places, his big frame block the way. So, no
body can touch me, while getting my health back.

Hey, Jebus funny, Trolls are not too bad. If Wraiths are those bigger
ghosts in crypts, yep a real pain. Spend most of my time running away!
I'm suppose to be a battle-mage, shame on me..

One Question to MartyG or any other thieves out there. Is it easier
for the character to kill/assianate people ? With the extra sneaking
abilities ? I ask, cause you do get those quest, where you can bump
someone of and gain more. Then let the quest go a different path..

                    Also, nice unicorn don caballero...

i came across a shrine quest where i had to kill a unicorn to retrieve its horn (in a grove)

Went to the grove and found a already dead one

I find Trolls hard, because they seem to come in duo's, on their own I can just about kill them, heal right up and continue onwards (rinse/repeat) but most of the time as I say, 2 at a time I can't deal with! Need some terpentine!

Wraiths I can't kill, they make me over-encumbered and I can't move so they do me hard! I tried "running" the forlorn watchman quest but ended up with 4 wraiths around me...wierd cos I have a weapon that does "12" damage which is pretty high compared to some of them...even my Daedric sword isn't that strong!

I level up my strength pretty much every time I level up, whilst trying to keep the rest balanced, and I'm at about level 14 now (levelled up twice on the last thiefs guild mission, as I said...it's huge!).

Any tips on why I how I can change my character, because he still feels SO weak sometimes? If I get two enemies around me it's more that likely I'll die no matter how much I block, blocking only takes off a bit of the attack!

The greater your sneak skill the easier it is for sure, you get damage bonuses when you sneak attack, for quite a few NPCs it's then possible to one hit kill, though if they have armor this is less likely. What you wear is important, best to wear no shoes when you're sneaking. Eventually what you wear makes no difference, once you become expert.

I don't think it was a great idea to make things in houses worth next to nothing. I don't get making some items worth nothing at all - it makes robbing houses next to pointless. Even the castles aren't filled with very much; I've cleared most of them out. It was much easier in Morrowind. Perhaps the people there are richer.

I enchanted a set of glass armor all with +10 fortify strength, along with the ring of perfection ( the most expensive item I've found @ 22K ) and a ring of feather and a necklace of strength at the w/e; it nearly doubles it. Handy for hauling loot out of cave raids, especially now my light armor skill means it no longer encumbers me.

Time to go do some more exploring.

I've done x6 damage with a sneak attack, but also on some characters with the same weapon I've actually got a x1 sneak attack

I agree with that, you sometimes have to search the entire house to find something worth selling, and even then you'll only get like 30-80 at most for it...I think the point is you only really need to steal 1000 gold worth of items, anything else is just for you...

I still find it wierd that it's harder to pick-pocket someone when they are asleep than when they are walking around!

How do you enchant weapons? I have a fire staff that I got from a mages guild quest. I feel like I'm really under-using my mage side since I can't do most of the spells? I use destruction and restoration magic a lot in battles but I can't find, or work out how I use/get stuff like summon beasts etc to help me? I'm mainly a thief, so is it impossible to be a strong mage as well? Some rings it says "You cannot wear this item at this time" and some spells are either "Your skill level is too low" or "You don't have enough magicka"...I think this is why I'm not so great in certain battles...I feel I could murder wraiths with my fire staff but it costs so much to recharge it, and I cannot use the soul trap spell yet (despite having it) because I'm not skilled enough! How do I make myself skilled enough? Levelling up? Level 14 and 43 hours seems enough to be able to do some spells? I just seem to be using minor heal wound and fire ball all the bloody time...

I just feel that at 40+ hours into the game, I'm missing out on an awful lot of things already, but I don't know what I've to do to gain the skills etc...

Am I levelling up wrong...have I set my skills wrong, I can't start over at 40 hours mind you!

I know I should be using the Bow (Marksman) skill more but I find that it isn't very useful in dungeoun crawls even with the 4 magical bows I have...if they are running straight at you with a mace and shield, what good is a bow and arrow? In a dungeon I find the amount of times YOU will get to sneak an enemy are quite minimal...

Intelligence governs the amount of magicka you have, so in order to boost that you'll either need to select that at level up, or fortify it.

To increase your skill levels, simply use the skill. There are seven different magic skills; Alchemy, Alteration, Conjuration, Destruction, Illusion, Mysticism and Restoration. Soul Trap is mysticism spell, so get one with low magicka and cast it lots. It'll take longer to work the level up if it's a minor rather than major skill, and some are easier to grind than others. I got alchemy to master pretty rapidly as it's easy to make potions. You can also go to trainers, but you can only train 5 times for each level. I didn't realise there were trainers at first as I never met them, so missed out earlier on. Now I make sure to use the training slots before I level up.

Oh, I forgot books, certain books will also boost some skills when you read them. Look at for them, they are worth more money.

To enchant a weapon, you need to go to an enchanting stand - they have them at the arcane university. Also need to have a charged soul gem, an appropriate item and a spell that can be used for enchanting. Only just discovered them myself, though it's probably mentioned in the manual.

I've just had a run in with that unicorn. All I wanted to do was pet it on the nose, but instead it tried to trample my head into the ground, so I set the bloody thing on fire!
