I decided that I didn't even enjoy the battle, they were a chore. So I dropped the difficulty down a bit. Now killing is much of a problem and I can get back to the interesting stuff of exploring.

Read how to do the cure on the Elder Scrolls Forums and it almost took up the entrie 1st page.

Have hardly touched the main quest either, there are so many other things to do
      I haven't, no.

I don't understand, I unsheathed the weapon when he gave the whole "don't cut me..." line and then the old bark runs around with HHH in hot pursuit and nothing occurs.

strange, I just waited till the guy entered the house and knifed him then.

Have to say I'm not fond of the lock-picking mechanic. I would have preferred something like in Splinter Cell. It'd be more fun, but then I guess it would be too easy as well.

OTOH, apart from some animation issues, the combat is good. Combat is so crucial to me in RPG games that I was slightly concerned Oblivion wouldn't deliver, especially after being spoiled by the likes of first-person combat in games like Condemned and Riddick but they've done a fine job here. If only some of the spells and summons looked more fancy, since they do look weak compared to the likes seen in JRPGs.

Overall though, best Western RPG I've played since Diablo 2. Bethesda are now in my top developers list and I can't wait to see what they do with Fallout 3.

I haven't enjoyed a game as much as this for years.

Did you let the conversation play out?

Anyone know where I can find Varon Varmori in Bravil? Its one of the Mage Guild quests but I'll be damned if I know where he is.

Bugger I'm stuck on a side quest any pointers?

It's the quest with the dodgy shop keeper, unfair competion I think it is. Essentially I've reached the point where I follow him after he shuts up shop. He wanders to a back alley and meets up with a shady character, but then they just stand there like lemons until morning. I've sure I've been pretty hidden and I've found a hollowed out tree stump there which is empty, I've even confronted them but no use.

SPOILER BELOW FOR MR PUMPS QUEST

You have to sneak in the bushes right next to them, it is to Thoronirs right opposite the wall, you'll see a tree and two bushes with a gap in betweem your character then becomes non-movable and you'll hear them chatting about their naughty wares

Thanks, thought I'd get rumbled hanging around there, so I've been hiding in the corridor instead. Giving it a go now

If you go into the quest log, and set it as your active quest, he should get marked on the map for you, with an arrow on your compass.

But has anyone got really laggy menus? as soon as you press the B button?
It just takes an age to load up, and some time to scroll through the sub sections within.

Yet after a while, the menu doesnt lag at all for a bit when playing; though give it another 20 mins of playtime, the menu plays up again. Just randomly does it.

Same with constantly loading environments. Sometimes it loads quite a lot and you cant move 5 metres without it loading again. Yet i load up my previous save and 'test' the area again, and it's fine
It's already been mentioned earlier (and you may know this), but if you're suffering load problems you need to clear the game's cache when it boots by pressing A. I've also experienced excessive loading once (on the Gold Coast) but all it took was a reset of the machine and the problem was solved.

I went back a few saves, and it still happens. The grief you have trying to get a cure is a joke (this could be a whole game on its own)

I was really enjoying the game up untill this point as well.
I've slept loads of times in different places (inns, tombs, caves, outdoors) and haven't been bitten once.

Sorry to hear you're having trouble.

I still don't quite know what to make of it...
Put over 4 hours in and still a level 1 character.
Is it possible to steal items without always being noticed?

I love how quests and actions have consequence, with events sometimes branching off from one another. The random nature of Morrowind and it's large expanse always made quests feel very detatched and some bits of the environment very barren - Oblivion seems much more populated and alive in comparison.
                                Morrowind's bigger?

It took me eight hours (getting side-tracked by a couple of dungeons and an oblivion gate) walking off the beaten track in the wilderness to

Crowhaven for the Orc fellow at the Imperial City Arena

                                .

30 hours have flown by. I'm completely hooked - would be posting more but I can't tear myself away.
