Steer away form a corner and then steer back in before drifting. It throws the back of your car around and creates a much tighter drift. You don?t need to use it too much but where you do need to use it, it really helps.

Did anyone buy this on the Xbox? The game is so dead, its even deader than Outrun2 was, which is a game that supposedly people loved and played??? I swear people love talking about Outrun, but hardly anyone actually plays it.

I actually still play this a lot but I?m restricted to the PSP version. No longer have the space available for an Xbox and a 360 hooked up at the same time. I know this has been said many times but Backwards Compatibility of this game would be much appreciated.

I?m really tempted to go for the PC version but I doubt my machine could handle it

My current struggle is Milky Way. I detest that route and it?s stuffing up my progress in the Flagman races in Coast 2 Coast mode. Just cannot handle the chicanes at all and always end up clipping the yellow barriers causing the crash out.

Actually that's about the only stage I still can't handle at the moment, for exactly the same reasons. Then again I'm using the Outrun Testarossa and damn thing is an uncontrollable beast on wheels!

What kind of spec do you have? It really doesn't require a beast, it seems very well optomised.... 100% 60fps on my dated machine.

Yesterday I saw a friend playing on his machine. The game definitely runs slower on his pc. Stages like Cape Way or Milky Way are much easier to do. On my machine Outruns runs too fast.

So I just measered the time a stage takes. For example the first beach one with tuned Enzo. Outrun said my ride took 55 seconds. My stopwatch showed 39 seconds . No surprise I'm distressed in Flagman 4 ... .

Summer specs: DFI nF4 Ultra, [email protected], X800GTO@XT, 2GB@490mhz.

              Try turning on V Sync.

I did some more tests: vsync was on before, but Outrun runs too fast. If I turn vsync off, the game gets much more faster - far too fast to handle.

By clocking down the graphic card from 550/550 to 150/250 the game speed is correct, but it doesn't run as smooth as it should. This further bug is really annoying .

lol, what a buggy ****. The driving time shown in the licence resets after 20 hours.

Does anyone know if the US PS2 version displays this game properly? I ask because when I play the PAL version in 60hz the cars look a bit squashed, but in 50hz they look normal.

PAL is meant to be run at 50Hz isn't it? That would kind of explain that. Assuming I'm not just making **** up.

I honestly don't know how you guys play the PSP version. I was in EB and they had all three versions half price, but no xbox version is stock. So I thought about it and settled on the PSP version over the PS2 one, with the intention of getting the xbox one at a later date.

The PSP framerate is just painful. It's not unplayable, but it's getting close for mine. I played the xbox version of O2 to death and I think I'm just used to a decent framerate. Plus, it's an arcade racer, a decent framerate is a requirement. It's a pain cause Outrun on PSP would have been awesome.

I'm hoping EB take back sale games for at least credit, cause I'm hoping the city store has an xbox copy. I knew I should have just ordered the CAN xbox version from VG+

Edit : Got a refund, but the xbox version at least is discontinued. Damn xbox gamers wouldn't know a good game if it wasn't called Halo (which isn't a good ga... ah for another time). Have to order the VG+ copy before it's too late.

I dont think thats right, because then every PAL 60hz game would look wrong and they dont. The PAL Xbox version doesnt have this problem when running in 60hz, its just the PS2.

It always outputs the same resolution (640x480) but most TV's will switch to a slightly different aspect ratio when they detect a 60Hz signal (as they'll think it's NTSC - Pal60 doesn't really exist as a TV standard)

Thinking on it we maybe should have forced the resolution to 640x448 to compensate for this - but we...errrr... didn't...

I have the PC version and I have to say, it's not a patch (hur hur!) on the original XBox version.

Buggy to hell, can't configure the game to work properly on my joypad (using a PS2 usb pad adaptor), the sound is messed up and to top it off, there are missing animations (such as when drifting and you hit another vehicle whilst sideways, there is no rocking animation).

                              Very, very dissapointed.

Your alone on that one though mate, though the Audigy2 problems are pretty major.
