Got a video capture thang on your mobile phone? Use that

The only blockhead dude I couldn't do without 'cheating' was the

      damn...

I did them in order and got it first time, i been tryin to do them in the wrong order.

Reminds me of shenmue 2 on the dreamcast, i thought you had to press that QTE in the barbers in lightning speed.

I ended up using my camera phone to record it - made it a lot easier.

I got into this game late, I bought it on release and never actually played it untill now. Its great, lots to do, good story and great script. Got close to the end of the game, going back to the orginal areas to get all the stuff I missed. ITs a shame that there isnt going to be a second really - I would have liked to revist this world on another platform in some way. As good as a PS2 title gets really.

I do thinks it's dragged on a bit in some places. Although i love it!

If they made a sequel it would only probably be less good than the first, bit like the Zelda series.

Just wondering, if anybody ever did manage to finish this, how long did it take you? I've been playing it here-and-there for the last six months and racked up 36 hours, and I'm only at the Northern Lands. I'm assuming this is the last stage of the game but then again I've thought that several times already. As Malc said, it can drag on a bit!

As much as I love the game, the latter third of the game does stretch itself out, I found myself just wanting to get to the end tbh.

If you've reached a snow area though, you've not *too* long left (though not exactly at the end or anything).

I finished it last month. It took me a total of 46 hours and I left things out. That said, it scored me with fully blossomed cherry trees for everything. I've got screenshots of my final stats if you want to see, they don't spoil the game.

Okami is easily one of my favourite games of the past 5 years. It's got to the point where people on my MSN list are sick of hearing me go on about it.

The Northern Lands section is the final overworld area. There's A good chunk of gameplay left there but you're on the home stretch.

Think I clocked about 56 hours, and had most of the secret stuff. Great game!

                    55 hours
Loved every minute of it and was sorry to have finished it. Wonderful, beautiful game.

When I get some spare time I'm looking forward to going round again!

I'm super late to the party but I've just started playing this now. What a work of beauty, truly proof that video games can be art. Visually astonishing in every way, I absolutely love it.

These are the kind of visuals Nintendo should be putting onto the Wii. I kept comparing Okami's sublime art with Twilight Princess' muddy mush... what a difference. And FFS Capcom, port Okami to the Wii, much as I adore the game on PS2 the drawing sections are a mess on the PS2's horrible analogue sticks, THIS GAME IS MEANT FOR THE WII!

Anyway, that aside, this game is utterly wonderful. Everyone should play it and I'm ashamed I waited so long. Can't wait to see what the Clover (now SEEDS) guys do next, as they seem to have more talent than just about the rest of the game industry combined.

Shame that actual game isn't that great (IMO, of course). After long analyzing, I finally understood what three things killed the game for me. Motion sickness*, long-windedness, and difficulty. There is way too much pointless, dull dialog, and using celestial brush gets way too tedious in the combat**. Furthermore, game is even easier than Wind Wanker (hell, I didn't die even once in the game).

                        * Okami and Katamari Damacy are only games that have actually made me sick. I really don't know what causes this reaction, but I suspect that it has something to do with cellshading and/or used palette.

** Excellent device for adding flavour to puzzle solving, but I wouldn't have used it so much in combat.

Fortunately I've never had motion sickness from a game. Not even Durandal on XBLA, and that seems to get a fair few people.

I agree there's too much dialogue though. The intro was particularly long and really wasn't a good start to the game. Plus it's annoying that not all text can be sped up.

I still love it though, and I'd rate it even higher than ICO, Colossus, Panzer, Jet Set, and Wind Waker in the art stakes.

I also think it's an artistic beauty ragarding its audiovisual splendor only, but regarding its gameplay it's been less appealing than say SotC to me and does many things wrong.

It delivers numerous vivid examples of things I hate in games nowadays and I got sick of it pretty fast.

Of course, the hardware is also partially to blame and I'd still love to see a Wii game that incorporates the concept more seamlessly.

i picked this up last week nice and cheap off amazon, got about 4 hours in yesterday being a sun hater.

the visuals are amazing but the gameplay is leaving me cold, i find the camera really annoying and it just seems a bit dull.

i'll crack on though - does it have 'dungeons' in the zelda traditional which need solving, that may incentivise me to stick with for a bit.

it is a thing of beauty though.

Unfortunate that Okami fell by the wayside here at Chez Cain in favour of, ( probably vastly inferior ), games for so long - as it now means I've little to contribute regarding my impressions as, well, everything that needs to be said of this apparent beauty has already been well documented here!

For the record though - only about fours hours in, and overly long intro aside, am loving every moment.
