THIS GAME!!!!!THIS GAME!!!!This game is amazing!!!I am so impressed and being a massive Mario fan, it has lived up to all expectations so far and it harks back to the original by being a bit easier for new players to get into as well.I started doing speed runs on the stages to see my fastest time, it really is so fun, hehe!!

I have had a grin the size of a cheshire grin playing this all day, true mario greatness and the fella has to have a 2d game like this at least once or twice a generation, it makes me want to go back and boot up SMW or the first SMB game , anyway I am going back to it, I just had to post my delight at this wonderful, wonderful game.

Oh the japanese packaging is the dogs balls as well, the yellow box looks lovely against my Japanese mario one box which is also yellow.I LOVE NINTENDO!

Be careful otherwise it'll stay that way.

Yeah, I got the Japanese one as well. For some reason I wasn't expecting this to be all that much but I love it! I actually got the same buzz from this as I did way back in '90 playing SMW for the first time on my new SFC

FINALLY got the three stars. I didn't know what I'd done to not get them for ages. Only then did I actually bother to look at the world map properly and

see that I'd actually not opened the alternate exit from the World 3 ghost house. Doh!

. I then did my usual thing of copying the 'perfect' saved game file to all three save-game slots. BEATEN! Now I'm trying to finish off Metroid Prime: Hunters, but have a feeling I'll be coming back to New Super Mario Bros. sooner rather than later...

Absolutely fantastic game - I like it better than Yoshi's Island and as much as Super Mario World. Once again: isn't the DS great?

Is there any way of knowing for sure if you have completley completed a "world" ?

I'm about 4 stars away from all stars but some I can't even find let alone get to!

When you have completely finished a World, i.e all exits and star coins have been found, it will say 'Complete' at the top of the bottom screen, in between the World number and your lives.

Yeah, there's a little notification on the world map for all star coins collected. As for the alternate exits, you can look at the map to see if there are any white dots that haven't been joined to the main map by blue lines yet, and then make educated guesses as to which levels lead to them

Edit: I have to make a point of order with reference to the above post -- the Complete message only applies to star coins collected, NOT all exits (e.g. to cannons) found

Ah, sorry about that. I found all the exits before beginning to complete my star coin collection, so just assumed that was correct.

Thats what I thought, cos I've got about 6 worlds saying complete but I know they aren't actually complete, just that I've got all star coins on them!

You know this game is just so fun for portable play, it's great just picking it up doing some more coin challenges and then saving the next bits for your next car or train journey. It truly is a classic, I have never had this much fun with a platformer since Super mario bros 4 and Yossy Island.I can only hope that they start a new series , the new SMB series and much as I am looking forward to the Yoshi Island sequel, I prefer the games made a NCL headquarters to outsourced franchises.

Can anyone gimme a level where I can always get a blue shell? I think I've only got ONE thing to do for my third star now...but I need a blue shell and can't find one for love nor money! Thanks in advance...

                          Jebus, you can

go to any power-up house and time the jump right to get the Blue Shell. In general if you jump the instant a power-up flashes on the block, you'll get the one 2 spaces after it. For example, jumping when the Fire Flower comes up will net you the Mini Mushroom 90% of the time, depending on your timing. You can use a similar method to always get Blue Shells.

Played multiplayer for hours today, 2, then 4 players. The main multiplayer game is...ok, but nothing great at all.

The revelation is the mini game section. When I first saw that the games were virtually all the same as the ones found on Mario 64 DS I was disappointed and stayed away from them. However, the way they have been made to be played by up to 4 people has been done brilliantly, we had SO much fun playing through them all, and there is such a lot of variety in them, each of us had our own fave, and it was all really competetive.

I've just finished it, properly. Every Star Coin, every exit found, and all coins spent. I was working up a sweat on some of those star coins!

I have found every exit but have given up short of collecting every coin. Considering how much I love my Mario games it is a bit disappointing to me that I cant be bothered to finish them off.

I have found the few coins on World 8 where you keep needing the mini mushroom very frustrating. You have a go die because of your weird floatyness as mini and then have to go back to world 1-4 or whatever to get a mushroom back again and repeat. They are set up to be pretty annoying as every time after you collect the coin you then have to do most of the level as mini mario too and I hate being that little guy.
