I picked this up again this week as I felt like having a pop at some of the achievements I hadn't gotten - namely Transmissionary and PP Collector..... One of the great things about this game are that two games are never exactly the same.

I'd forgotten how tight the timing is in some parts of the game, namely day 2...... I had very little time to get to both Cliff (the Hatchet Man) and the Coward in Al Fresca, I went for the Coward first, didn't have enough time to get to Cliff, but decided to continue any way. I'd've probably got to Cliff if I hadn't spent a good 5 minutes trying to get the Lovers to climb upto the air-vent on the roof. I tried everything -- I was carrying the bloke, kicking the girl, they just would NOT get up the ledge!

A similar choice came up between the 3 folks in the gun shop and the final meeting with the Psycho photographer, I went for the 3 in the gun shop, they joined, but again, they REFUSED to climb over the shop-counter, in the end two did, I had to leave the other one, then decided to ditch the other two near Cliff's shop, I made it back through the park to Paradise Plaza with NO time left, but still the scoop marker up on the screen for the photographer...... And I've never seen this before!.....

.....He showed me the picture of his usual suspect he has tied up, but because I was (barely) late, he had Frank tied up by a chain round his neck in front of Jill's Sandwiches, and had to fight him like that, with no weapons and in underwear like when the Cultists or SWAT guys get you.... LOL! I've never even heard of that before! I died, but it was worth having to go back to my save before I fluffed up with Cliff and the Lovers (didn't save since then).

Still gonna try for that Transmissionary Achievement ^_^

I've been considering going for the 5 day and 7 day survivor achievements but it's a daunting prospect. On top of that I don't fancy leaving my 360 running for 15 hours, or however long it takes, as it's only recently been repaired following a failure due to overheating - least that's what I keep telling myself.

I loved discovering that. This game is all kinds of awesome.

This Transmissionary achievement is an absolute BITCH!

It's back to the old save issue, but only having one save makes it really tricky to decided when to save or not. If you save and discover you don't have enough time to do something, you're screwed, if you save and miss something, you're screwed too!

I gotta start from scratch again as I saved in the Security Room a moment before Otis was due to call (to trigger the 'Girl Hunting' Case), I'd just dropped off 7 survivors so decided to save, if I hadn't saved, I'd've been back in the warehouse to get the call. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

It is a bitch. Even using a guide listing the order and time of each transmission I remember it took me several attempts to get it, and that was with using a secondary save on a memory card - something I strongly advise.

The lack of coop was a real shame for me. I kept the game just in case, because like it or not, my skills weren't good enough for the game.

I killed some guy who tossed grenades from a balcony (Boss1?) and it took me no less than 6 attempts, but I had to run for miles each time to get to fight him.

I really needed a mentor and guide to take me through the game. Coop would have been aces.

I managed to get to the last-last boss (the spec-ops guy with the tank) on my first run through, but he kicked the stuffing out of me I can only hope that I'll be sufficiently levelled-up to smash his teeth in at the end of my second play-through.

I struggle with this game, but can't help having a little soft spot for it.

I've had it since the day it came out (nearly a year) and I've still not completed it. I tend to get stuck on something and leave it for a stint (like I am now).

If the same game involved terrorists in an airport complex or soldiers in a third world city I'd have traded it way back. Zombies in a mall though ... that's a tough premise to walk away from.

Wowzer, I finally got that Transmissionary achievement. Even following a guide it was difficult (the guide missed one of the calls actually, I was just lucky it came very soon after a previous one other wise I'd've been in the wrong area of the mall).

Had so much fun playing through this again, despite frustrations. I've come to the conclusion that the survivor AI isn't so bad - I mean you are meant to rescue them, so if they run flailing into a pack of zombies, that's what you're meant to prevent.

The point which cannot be excused is when the survivors get stuck on corners, stairs or obstacles that they could easily avoid or walk around, that's just bad execution on Capcom's part. Also the hustle and jostling to get upto the air-duct, and then having to push your way past half a dozen survivors to get to the air-duct yourself is equally as bad. And holding hands of survivors could also use tweaking for any sequel - the camera changes as soon as you grab their hand, and it usually takes me a couple of tries to move with them without them letting go because of the camera change.

I still need to go back and get the PP collector and the 10 Psycho portrait collector achievements (didn't know you couldn't use saved photos), so I'm still not done with DR yet after all this time!..... That's money well spent IMO, this was the game that sold me on the 360, and the only game I've played more on the 360 is Oblivion..... So well done Capcom, and bring on DR2!

i agree - for what i paid for it, its sure worth the money

i thought that transmissionary was the hardest no survivor achievement to get as well and it was the last one i got outside 5/7 day survivor

the only frustrating achievement was the 'taking the helicopter out' one, it was just blind luck that after about 10 attempts i hit it

for the survivors i found it best to equip the book where they are not afraid and give them weapons, they seem to clear the road for you and none of them drop to their hands and knees and cry, so wanted to chainsaw one of them when that happened

                      as for the last boss

drop down from the turret onto the body of the tank and and every time the boss follows you do a jumping kick and you will hit him every time, and everytime he will jump to the back of the tank - rinse and repeat as they say and he falls into the zombies

Is it possible to get Ending A and the Saint Achievement? I already have it, but by getting Ending B.

This playthough, I got Ending A, and 49 survivors -

I'm guessing Ending A means you lose Brad and Jessie

, which reduced my total down from 51.

from what i understand ending a is the truth, so as long as you get overtime and do all the stuff there, you will get ending A

It's taken time for me to get to know and take this game on its own terms, but now I'm nearing the end I absolutely love it.

This is my first play through and there are now just a few hours before the chopper arrives. Not sure what's coming as far as a conclusion goes, but already I'm looking forward to my next play through.

Quick question, I know you can get Adam's chainsaws when you defeat him, but how do you get them after that?

They're always there where he dies

As Mr Freelance said, they re-spawn in the same place all the time (entrance to the ride, where Adam dies)

get the 3 books and you can finish the game with both intact
