Had this set to ultra high detail

Had to reduce it though the frame rate was unplayable

Still i have been enjoying it while it seems to stick with many rts things like creating troops it is a step forward

i just find the strategy so good (actually reminded me a bit of full spectrum warrior when it comes to taking cover) using the enviroment to keep troops protected and out flanking the enemies

It may be quoted as "xp required" but it'll most likely work under 2k. I use 2k and thought that Oblivion wouldn't work, but it works perfectly.

I started the full game last night, and as someone who found himself totally bored with RTS ever since C&C:RA, I have to say I love it.

The omaha beach landings to start it off is something that's getting a bit pass? in WWII games now, but get past that and it's brilliant. The destructable environments, using cover, carefully choosing what weapons to take with you - it all adds to it.

I didn't do too much, really only the first couple of missions, but the end of the first level proper, when you get

the convoy coming through on the Omaha road, and you have to set the ambush

was absolutely brilliant, watching it all unfold in front of you.

i was really enjoying it for the first couple of missions but to be honest once it got to the more typical building units then i started to enjoy it less

It doesn't. The setup starts but then pops up a box "hey, install XP!". It doesn't really surprise me, MS pulled support from Win2k, it was only a matter of time before gaming companies will start looking only to XP and Vista. Still have to find the time (and willingness) to install XP...hopefully will be this weekend so that I'll be able to play. Or just go with Xenosaga III and finish it.

Got this today from gameplay, did all the training and the first two missions, very nice stuff.

Usually with these type of games I lose interest before I have even finished the training levels, but this does have genuinely refreshing feel to it, good stuff so far.

Got to try it out online though, maybe we can get some NTSC games going.

I'd certainly be up for that! What kind of multiplay options does it have?

from reading the box it says upto 6-8 players online.

Not sure if you can do team matches, I will give it a try tonight.

The singleplayer starts off great, however after the 4th or 5th mission it all becomes rather similar. For me the second mission with the airborn was the most exciting.

Anyone up for some tommorow? I will probably be online from around 8ish.

Team matches are indeed possible. You can have anything from 1v1 all the way to 4v4, infact the stratergy aspect becomes alot more interesting in multiplayer, good teamwork being the key factor.

                        I cant Saturday evening.

Managed to get a few games online this evening (Friday).

It seems the vital points on the map to take control of are the Fuel posts, each time I lost was due to the other team building tanks before me and rushing my territory, this can happen really fast too so it almost feels like a race to build tanks.

Bit dissapointed really, would be good to put soldiers into more use but tanks just own everything it seems.

Still a really good game and im sure there must be tactics which can work against tank rushing, just need to figure them out.

Yes, tank rushes are a pain in the arse when you first start, but there are ways of avoiding them. I suggest building tank traps and AT guns early on to restrict routes to tanks, or even to channel them to places you can easily defend, this is more important in the early stages as tank traps become usless later on as players start purchasing heavy tanks. This tactic also works with barbed wire, which should be used early on to section off areas that are important and to stop enemy troops from sneaking around you.

My normal move at the start of the game is to build three extra engineers, the first three I send directly to the most important points on the map (fuel). The fourth one I use to build a special weapons center and start building heavy MG crews.

Team work in multiplayer is vital, as you will need to cooperate to secure the vital positions from the very start. You will also need to communicate to them which commander to go as you should always have at least one armoured commander.

Another useful tip I discovered recently is that if you are Axis, dont bother building tanks, just build lots and lots of grenediers and upgrade them with rocket launchers. If you then build the infantry upgrade center and then upgrade them all to crack units you have pretty much won the game. A squad of Crack grenediers can quite easily take on 2-3 tanks at once, even while under constant fire from heavy MG crews or bunkers. They are very leathal, and cost less manpower than a tank. Two squads of crack grenediers gaurding a rout will deal with anything thrown at them.

Been playing single player for a few hours now - wow, what an experience. Was a little disapointed at first (the initial mission and majority of the second are a little dull) but now I'm having a blast. I'm not normally an RTS sorta person, but I'm amazed the game is as intense as any WW2 FPS. Having a load of tanks suddenly come your way (with just a minute or two to setup defence) is incredible. Everything feels so damn powerful.

Sometimes I find unit placement a little tricky - a squad may stick out of cover or even run round the wrong way, but generally I'm able to get around these problems.

Haven't even tried multiplayer yet either

Struggling on the 5th mission (where you have to rescue dog company )

Really does not feel like its giving me time to get a defence before the tanks come in
