    Hmm... I'd put it somewhere between the two. Certainly the bulk of the game involves dungeon crawling to a boss encounter, and on the surface that plays pretty much identically to the first - essentially 2D platforming. Once you get into combat it's a lot more tactical than the first.

    Cutscenes are fairly common and are based around arriving at locations or meeting characters, much like Final Fantasy. There isn't the chapter structure of the first one (though the game does tell its story in chapters you have no time limit imposed upon you for them).

      I would agree with this it's similar to the first game but with more tactical combat there is a little more story at the start but it soon settles into the same pace as the first game although there's meant to more in chapter 4 onwards (In chapter 3 at the minute trying to get bonus items for 2 characters) it has more cutscenes than the first game but not like FF12 which I'm also playing at the minute.
