I've tried off a few mountains but it doesn't seem to register them - Is a "base jump" from a specific surface ? I thought maybe you had to jump from something man-made like a bridge ??? Otherwise I shoulda done this by now.

Also, do you need to pull the chute and land safely for it to count or does the achievement occur whilst you're still "in flight" ?

it counts a base jump as free falling after jumping off of any surface excpet a vehicle

when i did it i was trying to find a sweet spot on the eagles nest mountain and as i was falling i was about to impact on the ground at the bottom of the valley so i pulled my chute and as soon as i did the achievement popped up. i got 1036 metres. from looking at the official forums it can be done by jumping off some cliff at the end of mission 12

I've jumped off cliffs a few times - last night was easily a 1000+ metre drop but my previous 405m stayed ???

The collect missions deserve special mention - for me it became more about finding places to safely park my heli so I could go swimming for the collectable and still get back in the chopper - My landing skills are outstanding now

i know wht you mean yoshi while collecting you get very good at parking the ol copter.

the base jump as someone else mentioned was from eagles nest rioja 4 base
you have to go to the northeastern corner and when you jum p you have to pullback to guide him over the edge of the mountain don't pull the chute untill the last second and that should do it.

Yeah the collect missions are cool. I've got three more to complete. I love sneaking into enemy territory and snatching the parcel before the heavy copter come in bombarding the place. I had problems getting the one on the ledge of the chimmney. I was trying to land an helicopter on the top and drop down to it, but I either ended up destroying the helipcopter or totally missing the ledge. I eventually got it by sky diving right on to the parcel, luckily it registered the collection just before I splatted

Do you get anything special for collecting the blue prints to that special weapon? I think there's only 3 items to find for that one, I've got two so far.

nothing special except an achievement for a collect mission

Never have I played a game where landing a helicopter doesn't make you feel like a learner pilot.

I've done some amazing "park helo on 45-degree slope, jump out + run away before it blows up" so I can get the collect

you need to land and don't die.

my best so far is 5303 going off the statistics screen on the PDA

Finally got the game

enjoying it and there is nothing like being chased my people leaping on the car and then parachuting away.

I must say though i would much rather they halved the size of the world but give you much more to do

Nearly clocked this now. Some amazing bugs including walking on water, pelvic thrusting instead of swimming and rising up from Hell through the map when spawning.

Also collecting pedestrians on the hood of your car is terribly amusing.
