Completed this yesterday, thoroughily enjoyed it from start to finish. It has been a total surprise hit for me as those pre-release videos did nothing for me. It was far from perfect mind, but I suspect there will be a sequel in the making that will address the problems.

Sequel was confirmed about a week or so ago for ps3/360 and PC, they said it will still have the same lead character and will not be based in san espirito.
That can only help the game being a next gen title from the ground up and its the second title, the avalanche engine did nothing but impress me with the scale of it all, nothing better than a bit of mad skydiving onto a car!

Originally posted by kendraRight, how on earth do you do the last mission?
I have trouble getting to his palace, getting to the island isn't a problem, I try and get a vehicle and some stealth fighters bomb me to death, followed by the police.
I just drove a boat as fast as possible to the island and then quickly parachuted my way over, got me pretty much the whole way there if I remember correctly.

Picked this up on the Square-Enix Steam sale the other week. It hasn't aged well at all. Looks pretty average and the PC port is woeful (no option to change aspect ratio, no mouse support for menus etc). Story is terrible, shooting is terrible, you can run a car at full speed into a tree and it just stops dead with no damage.
Why am I still playing it? That damn grapple hook is so much fun. In what other game can you leap out of a plane mid flight, grapple onto a helicopter, swing in and kick the pilot out and take over? I'm thinking this game could be amazing if there was some kind of combo system for how long you can stay off the ground jumping between vehicles.
Not much of the game left, so I'm hoping the second addresses some of the other flaws and keeps the grappling hook!

^Funnily enough, just clocked Alan Wake but had originally installed Just Cause on my 360's hdd before that game, so in theory I should've been loyal to JC but caved for Alan Wake's modern charms.
I still think Just Cause looks super lovely, maybe 'cos I'm not playing it on PC but the island and colours are stunfucktastic.

Just finished this the other night. Fun last level in the jet, ruined a bit by the parachute/freefall bit.
I must warn you senior, I have seen air force one at least 6 times!
Started the second yesterday and was absolutely blown away. How did this game not get more attention?!? There isn't even a first play thread for it here. Might have to start one later.
I'm glad I played this first before Just Cause 2 so I could enjoy it on it's own merits, there is no way I could go back after playing the sequel, so much better in every way.Last edited by mekanor; 08-03-2011, 02:22.
