I'm enjoying this a lot. It's very funny, and there's some nice references to DQVIII.

The tank battles I really don't get though. They're really, well, rubbish. I may be missing something though. Everything else is pretty ace

Completed this last night. Was on a bender from 8pm till 2am.

Clocked in at just over 20+ hours to do. Though I rescued all 100 Slimes, captured 30+ of each baddie (except 2) went and twatted my nemesis, completed the final rank on Tank Battle Tournament and jumped down the well!

Speaking of the well, my enthusiasm may have got the better of me. The well isn't some Paper Mario well of goodness but...well you'll see.

Just a few recipies and these tablet's which spell out 'POW' to get. Can't wait to see what that does, really takes some rare/hard to get item's to make.

Just finished the main story (100 slimes rescued), in just over 10 hours.

The tank battles, after saying they were rubbish, are actually excellent later in the game. When you get a crew in and you can make the choice between firing stuff, or running over to the other tank and stop them firing stuff and trash it. Also, it's cool the way some items do more damage, but they're really slow through the air, so you really have to put some thought into loading the ammo.

The end credits are excellent too.

Overall, this game is pretty great. It's *really* easy though, and I can't see myself being bothered to collect 30 of each monster, let alone 100! One in particular would take forever! Definately a fun game while it lasts

just finished this and i had to say i really enjoyed it 100 slimes only collected a few of the enemys collected to 30 so i may go back and do that. The tank battels do get a lot more in depth later on but you hardley ever feel like your in threat for a lot of the game apart from the spike towards the end of the game.

The diffrent abilitys your team mates get are great the most usefull team i found was the fat blob thing because he could carry three items, the healer to keep energy up and one of the ninja's as you could load him into a cannon and he would grab ammo out of the air for you (very usefull if your enemy was chucking items that do a 100 damadge) really enjoyed it all the way through as it had that charm and attention to detail you dont often see in games these days.

Just started this today and loving it so far.

Reminds me alot of the Mario & Luigi games but i'm actually enjoying this more. I found the DS M&L game rather too similar to the previous one and got bored after a while.

Only got about 10 slimes so far and have just uncovered the tank.

I'm surprised this has only had 2 and a bit pages. It's a really wonderful, fun game. Lots of fun for the gamer who isn't so experienced and doesn't say that any game that isn't nigh on impossible isn't worth playing. Yes, it's mostly quite easy, but in a way that's what makes it enjoyable, and don't take that to mean that it's a game for kids, because there are plenty of in-jokes for the knowing gamer thrown in and a fair amount of extra bits available to those willing to put in a bit of extra time.
I'm up to about 78 slimes now, I just wish the music wasn't so damn repetitive so have been playing mostly with the sound turned down, but the sense of humour in the translation is brilliant, the game has an excellent personality throughout, some of the tank names are sheer class, whoever translated this game should be given a significant bonus because they've done a great job.
The structure is just about perfect with more than one thing available to do about 95% of the time and various areas unlocking at what feels like just the right point when you're about to run out of meaningful stuff to do. There are optional collection aspects if you're that way inclined and

the tank battle ranking tournament which is fun, even if most of the tank battles in the game are a little easy once you've sussed what's best against what

. The tank battles make for something a little different when it comes to what are essentially boss battles, although there are a few of the more traditional platformy boss battles too, which unsurprisingly aren't very difficult to beat, but that's kind of the point of the whole game. Lots of good stuff here for the beginning/middling gamer.
I would definitely wager that this comes from the Enix side of Square-Enix, because it's fun and accessible and doesn't make you level slog in any way, although if you want more crew members for your tank you can always go and spend the hours getting them if you want to. Again, this is optional.
It reminds me a lot of Enix's 16-bit ARPGs in that they only provide a fair-to-middling challenge but still have enough to keep the experienced gamer interested. I also very much appreciate that it's completable in about 15-20 hours, less if you're not interested in side quests. I have absolutely no interest in 80-hour random-battle-filled epics that follow the same old 'teen boy is the saviour of the universe' storyline, and this game would probably have suffered from repetitiveness had it been any more than 20 hours long.
I'd give it about 8.5 out of 10. For what it is, and what they've set out to make, I think they've done a great job. It's ace.

I have never ever touched a DQ game before but this is fantastic! It's got a great story which are accompanied by charming characters and gameplay which is simplistic but et has an underlining of RPG elements.

I have 73 slimes out of 100 i presume and i'm really enjoying this, anyone who hasn't played it really should if they love action adventure games in the vein of Zelda. It's great!
