Looks like he'll be making Wii games then.

I'll let you know what it's like on Saturday when I should get my copy.
Nothing to say sorry for , we all can see the Decline of SEGA, but not many corps have had to plough through years and years of losses and some 100 million dept mountain .

I thought most of SEGA output up until 2004 was the tops , JSRF , Monkey ball and ORTA are some of the best games SEGA ever produced in their lives , after that it went down hill with Team mergers and cut backs trying to stave off hostile takeovers and going to the wall, and that showed in their output (bar Arcade Teams) . But with luck the news funds and Lindberg should help bring back some of the magic form the SEGA of old (thought it never be quite the same again).

I'm qutie looking forward to Sonic Next Gen, I liked the demo and hoping it will be @ least as half as good as Sonic Adv .

There's no used to in it, Yakuza is one of the best games to come out of SEGA in years (the SEGA of old), Yakzua II looks like a mad Summo Hung flick in real time , and Monkey Ball Wii looks class . . AV/New Ent R&D1 and AM#2 track record is 2nd to none, and about the only studios inside SEGA Japan that haven't mess up inthe home of late .

Yu is the lala land that is Digital Rex and he's busy on Shenmue online, after finishing work onthe Lindberg game . As sad as it is to say, I think we've seen the best of that man, unless he's put to work on a Racer

yep, sega's creativity is slowly being smothered under the pressure of multi-publishing.

back in the day they could concentrate on their own hardware and squeeze every last drop of goodness out of their machines.

Unless SEGA are saving all their best ideas for the Dreamcast 2!

              ...Wait...

True that SEGA are pretty crappy now, but they still bring out the odd gem every now and again such as OutRun!

I'm not that excited about Sonic though.

You know, all these reviews aside I'll probably buy it as a game for XMAS. I was probably one of the few people who enjoyed the demo and did not have any problems with the controls.

Right i have a friend who swings the bat both ways with his 360(backups/buys originals also) and he rang me to day to tell me he has Sonic game for 360.So i fly round there to take a peek and you know what its actually good.Camera issues are not as bad as the demo there was no slowdown while sonics doing his thing and the game does look very nice indeed.Only saw the first couple levels but looked very good and he was loving every minute of it and he absolutely hated the demo.

Make of this what you will but i liked what i seen.

                  G.

Me thinks Play are just going a bit over the top .
Yeah, Play's a brilliant mag but on occassion they seem to either a) build up too good a friendship with a dev team or b) just get caught up in the hype surrounding a title. Unfortunately when this happens all objectivity has a habit of going out the window and the review becomes a bit of a "love-in".

OutRun 2006 is hands down the best racer I've played since Daytona USA
aren't you taking people's posts a tad too literally. no one is saying all sega's output is ****....we're aware they still produce high class games...but the point remains that they've gone to the dogs in recent years and if we're honest they've slipped well behind nintendo is quality content when once they were on an equal footing or arguably better.

multi platform publishing has killed their creativity to a large degree. hence why many of their top designer have left.

No , I never take anything think that is said a board to heart , its a bit of fun nothing more . And if you read my posts I know SEGA aren't the SEGA of old and thier output has dropped (really bad in 2004/5) , but its still not has bad as some people make out Money troubles more than anything really killed SEGA creative output , more so when CSK just wanted rid of SEGA. No corp can fund risks and big money productions when trying to stave off take overs or buy outs and that showed in SEGA output

And hate this myth that SEGA a lot of its top designers (much like with RARE) a couple left but that happend all the time in all corps. People have left BUNGiE and the likes of Valve , same happend in Capcom ect. It the way of the industry and people left SEGA in DC and Saturn days to go to the likes of Square, Genki and Artoon (never read that was the end of SEGA back then) . Why people make such a big deal when it comes to staff leaving RARE or SEGA Japan of late I do not know when it happens in all corps

Another thing too SEGA West thanks to nice funds, is starting to get good people in the industry , and that will show its self in 2007 and 2008

ur right...the financials were allot to do with it....i guess that's what pushed them into multi-platform development in the first place.

maybe things will improve with time but i;m not so sure...i think the comapny has now fundamentally changed with only some remnants left of teams that can produce "old style" sega games....the sort of games we all know to have a certain magic.

Well I have the full game now and it's much the same as the demo. The first level is a nice tropical affair, very, very much like the first level in Sonic Adventure. To play though the camera is still awful and the control is still super twitchy. Ultra buggy too, I've already fallen through the floor once and got stuck in the scenery a couple of times.

Graphics are dreadful too. Looks like a high-res Dreamcast game. (no joke)

I agree with you mate, he is taking everything far too literally. You can't get away from the fact that most of Sega's output now is dross.Bar a few releases, they are far worse than Ea, and imo EA's new creative model looks far healthier than Sega's.
