So, it's not a sign of a Sega renaissance then?

I guess we'll have to wait until Shenmue III makes it's debut at X06 tonight.

stop nicking bags from Aldi dude

Real shame but what were we expecting a fully 3d world for sonic to tear about in instead of the tiny corridoor play that has plauged the series move to 3d. you really would think they could of tried something diffrent with the game by now.

one way i see it working is take a 3d sprawling island world stylised with sonic trees and such and give the player non linear objectives to head towards say 4 of them machines that capture the animals a few boss encounters, with the emphasis on tearing about the island and a **** load of bonus objectives like saveing tails or speed runs versus knuckles to certain areas, i really could see sonic being at home tearing through the trees or hopping up a cliff face and they could have multiple island for him to explore getting in all the cliche's a volcano lava island, an iceberg with a eggman base on it im sure you get the idea.

The thing is, why can't that be done? I don't doubt that they can actually pull something off like that if they actually put their mind to it and thought about game design a bit.

Yup pretty much agree with everything thats been said. The movement control is far, far too sensitive, whereas the camera control isn't anywhere near sensitive enough.

Didn't have any slowdown though, could just be me or you guys are really picky

I think the problem Sega can't get around is the reason the more you have to faffing about you have to do with Sonic, the harder it is to play the game at speed. You're in control of a fast character with twitchy controls, but at the same time, you have a camera that is slow to move and on its own is never in the right place and you can't judge the distance of your jumps. The two just won't gel, 2D Sonic worked because you don't have to faff around with a camera, everything is easy to make out so it rocket through the levels.

EDIT: Damnit Lebowski you beat me to it What Lebowski said

The only good point I noticed was the rails were easy to grind, that said getting on them was a bitch

I actually half enjoyed SA2 on the DC, as Darksteve said, how they made the camera worse I'll never know.

The camera is horrible. It rotates about three times too slowly and has little to no influence on the direction Sonic faces.

I only got slowdown at the boss type character.

The game also crashed on me after it gave me my rank

Which moron chose to implement such a shoddy camera? Whoever did needs sacking prontoft:

This game just disappeared from my to buy list.

I don' t get the hate,

Its looks stunning and plays like Sonic Adv just what I wanted and all I've ask for.
For sure the camera has some issue's and zooms in too close somtimes (thats a pain inthe ass) , but using the left trigger cleans most of that issue up, and the homing attack isn't as spot on as it needs to be (that part really needs to be fixed) and the music isn't as mindblowing as Sonic Adv . Apart from that I'm loving it and played it a few times now and the FMV clips that shows other part of the games looks mindblowing.
Also there seems to plenty of ways to make your way through the level.

My only downer was @ no point at the demo does SONIC run @ full speed.

Glad I'm not the only one who thought it was good, not great but good.

The camera isnt too bad, just use the left trigger. My main gripe is that I find the speed pads impossible to control.

I'll be buying the game but I'm a bit of a Sonic fanboy so...

sonic adventure had major issues on the dc, dodgey camera aside did you not have issues with the fact that you could just let go off the pad at certain points and it pretty much played itself, surley it should be about the gameplay as well as flashey graphics and speed.

I loved SONIC Adv and enjoyed it more in parts than Mario 64 and for me its up there with Sonic CD as the best SONIC game I've played . Very few games are perfect (Mario IV, Exhumed, Saga, Daytona USA aside) I've had issues with the likes of Ninja Gaiden , SOC, didn't stop me from loving them and overlooking the flaws
