The thing I like most about CoD2 DM is that there's no fancy gimmicks, no bull**** power-ups, traps to exploit etc. It just is what it is and everyone's balanced, other than weapon choice.
Conversely, I tried playing 360 Far Cry on Live the other night for the first time (against the 12 other people who play it) and it's guilty of every crap, cheap, nasty, pickup-reliant, spawn-kill ****e trick going.

After recently becoming increasingly concerned about 360 titles' shoddy framerates, tearing and sometimes just plain ****ty graphics, an hour with Call Of Duty 3 tonight (review copy at Reektans crib) has totally restored my faith in the 360's ability to produce an absolutely AMAZING next gen experience.
Imagine COD2, only crisper, smoother/more consistent framerate and the 'eye candy' slider turned ALL THE ****ING WAY TO THE TOP.
Totally mind blowing. I defy any fan of the series, ****, any fan of FPS's to be disappointed by this.
I was worried about the lack of buildup to this and the fact it wasn't Infinity Ward's any more. I needn't have worried.

ezee ryder, knew that name was familiar! i was playing earlier (no substance85) on the bridge level. game is ace, blowing up a sidecar with panzer in multiplayer is sheer joy. can't seem to connect to ANY ranked matches though, what gives? player matches is fine...
apart that, great game. up to chapter 5 in single player and apart from some of the most cliche-ridden dialogue of any game EVER, it's damn fine! no tearing in VGA, super smooth at top resolution, simply put, an amazing audio/visual experience, especially the thunderstorms on chapter 2...best looking thing i've seen yet on 360!

Chucked a grenade into one of the testers tanks earlier, twas funny indeed to see him fly out of it
had a couple of dropped games, to be expected i guess, but still zero lag, which considering my wireless net has 2 pc on all the time and 2 360's, is pretty good going, no COD2 probs here

Been playing this all evening and have to say: what a game!
Only issue Ive had is the game freezing when trying to join a friends game, but otherwise its all been smooth. Much better than how COD2 performed online on release
GOW seriously has its work cut out if it wants the majority of my time!

Hehe I was going to ignore this as well. Up until yesterday I had zero interest in this game. I played it earlier and...wowBest gaming surprise of 2006, IMHO. I loved COD2 on the X360 and this is the ideal sequel.
Single player is fantastic. So much fun, shedloads of action and some incredible moments even in the first few levels. I can't even imagine what kind of crazy **** will happen later on. If it can maintain this level of action then it's a contender for GOTY 2006.
I'm playing on normal and it is quite hard but it's so well tuned and balanced that it's just so fair. If you die, you'll always know why. If you want to adjust your strategies then you can, and the AI will support you no matter what - whether you run in or stay back and snipe, there's always support for you
Not tried it online yet (gamertag; rlench) but I may go on tomorrow. If I can drag myself away from single player...
