Quick question on the melee combat... is it scripted? Or engaged depending on your range to an enemy? Suppose this will also answer the question, will the melee combat be part of live play cause if it scripted then chances of it being available in live games will be low?

scripted all the way i think, turning a blind corner etc triggers it, dont reckon itl be on live, wouldnt work well

only encountered it once so far, there is no action button which triggers the close combat sequence, so i guess it is scripted.

In pratical terms if it was a QTE style sequence playing multiplayer the one of you will be sniped/picked off whilst engaged in that so it probably wouldn't work.

Sticking rifle butts in peoples faces was a lot of fun in 2 so no biggie And hopefully it will be WELL scripted in the SP campaign.

yeah i have to agree with pookmunki once you get that bunk over the wall there is no turning back! great game, tempting fate (GoW on 17th) but this is the best game i have played on the 360 so far.

edit: is it just me or when you look down the sight of the weapon its looks like your watching a CGI clip or something!

I share your pain Yoshi, I think these bastards should put down the pads and wait for the rest of us until AT LEAST Thursday.

Suprised you are all so impressed with the graphics, it didn't look that improved over Cod2 from the screens. I've yet to see it moving though...

right, just played a quick 8 player war game in Merville...

Firstly, the maps are HUGE, packed with hidden walkways and chambers, open ground and camping spots, think COD2 turned up to 11.

The many different infantry types all have their own genuine uses, i was a medic as i play support in BF2:MC, so i hung back using my trench gun when neccessary to defend myself and healing downed soldiers, havent tried many other types yet.

the vehicles are nice addition, its good to tear around the map in a bike with a gunner in the sidecar, the maps are open enough to make the vehicles useful, but due to the intricacies of buildings, catacombs etc, you WILL get destroyed if you stay in one eventually.

For team kills there's a punish/forgive system where you can do just that to someone who kills you by mistake or intentionally. Im not sure if its in player match, but im assuming it affects your ranking in ranked matches.

Unlike GRAW, the graphics are equal to SP.

                    Best of all?

                    NO LAG AT ALL

Think this will be best live game yet, wasn't sure if the shift to 24 players was a good one, but this (somehow?) surpasses even Double Agent in MP.

With 24 ntsc-ers this will be FANTASTIC

Dunno if it's already been discussed, but can you throw back enemy grenades in SP and MP?

Sorry to all if it seems like im taking the piss with all this, but what better hype than from a fellow NTSC member? Everyones gotten so involved with GOW that it seems people have forgotten about other stuff thats out, im just giving my honest opinion of what ive played so far, its only a few days!

can anyone already comment on AI and whether vehicles and buildings are destructable or not this time? and does the gameplay feel any different from CoD2?

Multiplayer is slightly different due to the classes (great fun by the way) but single player is more of the same plus a neat little extras such as being able to control vehicles. Just finished a mission where you control a jeep and the controls seem pretty tight (RT to accelerate, left stick to move, right stick to look around and B to reverse). As for the question before about lobbing grenades back, you can in single player, but don't know about mutiplayer as I did not try.

edit: some buildings you can destroy and same applies to vehicles. also destroying objects via charges is now a little more interesting.....splinter cell style!

This looks fantastic, I loved playing CoD2 last Xmas, such an amazing experience, and so very loud. You NEED to crank the volume on these badboys. I have actually kept away from '3 until now mainly because with Rainbow and Gears, I couldn't justify a 3rd war game, but things have changed now, so sod it

I didn't think much to the MP in '2, so I am hoping its a little better this time around. Perhaps this weekend when its well busy it will be a lot of fun. It looks like you rack up an overall ranking score with the game this time. Does anyone know how it works?

I'm looking forward to getting stuck into the new War multiplayer mode. Sounds like the great Battlefield 1942
