    Elite Beat Agents

Finding this much easier than Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan. In the first few levels anyway, think they turned down the hardness. In the early levels you could make a few mistakes and still make it through the level without any problems.

Overall I still think I prefer Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan over this. I find some of the levels kind of broken and don't link up to the clicks smoothly ie. Jamiroquai - "Canned Heat" being one of them.

It's not just the difficulty level that's toned down in my opinion. It feels like the whole game is designed for a younger audience. The music, the storylines and the humour all feels all a bit lame compared to Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan!

Another case of Lost in translation then?

Yeah, the storylines in the original (horse chases a robber for example) were pretty sophisticated. It would be a shame if they've dumbed those down for a western audience.

Yay!.... My copy arrived this morning. Impressions:

I had a quick spin through a couple of songs, the game seems just as much fun as Ouendan.... the presentation is top-notch, the 3D map is nice too.

The intros seem longer than in Ouendan, what with the story, the bit with Khan and the arrived of the EBA's...... all skipable of course.

From the two songs I played, the spinners seem much easier to get higher bonus points on, I dunno if that was because it was on the normal difficulty..... I'm missing quite a few hits because I've been used to playing OTO on 'Hard', so I'm looking forward to unlocking the higher difficulty levels asap, since I think they let you enjoy the rhythm of the song more.

From the 10 mins I've played, it seems just as good as Ouendan...... Of course it loses that charm of not being Japanese, and having music we're mostly familiar with..... But that's not the games fault, it's just how Japanese games like Ouendan appeal to us.... I'm sure if we could read the stories in Ouendan and heard those songs on MTV/the radio, they wouldn't seem as quirky to us.

Can't wait to get stuck in some more! B)

Just messing around on the easiest difficulty right now - I have to do it all at some point so may as well get it over with first! Feels sooooo slow, but that comes with being used to the cheerleaders, I guess!

The sound quality, for some reason, seems rubbish. I'm just playing through my Lites speakers atm, so headphones may improve it, but it seems worse than Ouendan's to me.

Also, there's a little hand icon on the screen telling you where to tap. Hopefully that's just a feature of the easy difficulty, and won't be there all the time...

Still, it's O!T!O pretty much, and it's ace! And cheese city. Y.M.C.A!

Some new features on this over the original

              - You can skip the long intros
              - You can save replays
              - You can review the last few seconds of your last song to see where you went wrong

The original is better from a quirkiness viewpoint and is a must buy along with this

Also having received the game this morning, I'd say the spin sections are easier to get the damn thing rotating...

i like this game but i do prefer Ouendan, the beats don't seem as smooth and consistant as its japanese counterpart and it seems a little easier.

still some of the music is cool but i would have prefered original soundtracks and some more up-to-date pop tunes - i mean who wants YMCA in there!! haha

this game is still one of the best examples of what the DS is great at

This made me laugh quite loud, post of the week

Got my copy thismorning, blasted through it on normal and must say I'm quite impressed. I think I've still got a soft spot for Ouendan over this, but I think it's a great Americanisation, and has stuck to the original's values well - the music's cheesy, the scenarios are fun, and it's got a nice learning curve. Even on normal the last couple of stages needed a go or two before I picked up some of the rhythms, and I have no fear that the other difficulties will pack just as much punch as on the original.

I gotta say, maybe I'm just getting used to it but the timing of the circles seem completely different to the song in places. I've S Ranked nearly all of Ouendan but this is a bit annoying at times.

the beats do seem a little out of place at time,s and if like me you go more by the beat of the music than watching the circles its annoying

That's what I thought too, before I played it - but then when I was playing it and the chorus kicked in it had me grinning like an idiot!

And episode 12, even though I was expecting it, still bought a tear to my eye!

I haven't experienced any of this off-beat stuff you mention yet, though. Example?

The stories do parody a fair few from Ouendan (mass invasion, giant thing attacking people, I see dead people, one set in the past etc) but they're all fun and enjoyable still in their new guise

YMCA is one of the better ones I think, ABC is another good one. The game gets better when the difficulty ramps up because then the music actually seems relevant to the actions on screen.
