Gave this a little bash and I'm not that impressed, the controls are weak at best, I'm constantly wiggling the nunchuck to open a door, very tiresome. The aiming is okay, took a little while to get used to, but the actions like picking up guns and lifting tables become boring. Zooming in and out using the A lock on feature is not intuitive at all, i keep wobbling about whem zooming and aiming.

The first 3 levels reminded me of PDZ. Just bull**** levels filled with guys to shoot. I'm hoping it'll get better but it seems the 6 out of 10 score seems reasonable, if not generous.

Didn't click with me just yet in short, but i'm willing to play it til the end.

I'm still playing through this and enjoying it, despite the flaws. I have some special sword and gun moves now which are a bit hit and miss to pull off, but it adds some variety all the same.

If Ubi could just lock the crosshair to the center of the screen and make it less jittery in the sequel, they could be onto a winner.

im enjoying it. i dont see how people are having trouble with the controls when they first played it, i picked them up straight away. i only got it this morning and i have only played it for about 30mins, in which it then crashed loading the parking lot level. gah.

          How odd, mine did too.

I quite like this game, people moan about the cut scenes I quite like them, it has a nice XIII Comic Book feel.

I found it easy enough to pick up and play after having put it on. Not far in the main game (Due mainly to Zelda) but enjoying it so far.

Mine crashed last too, but in a different location.

I think the cut scenes are dreadful though. Awful art and the story is completely cliched nonsense.

One disappointment I do have is the bloodless nature of it all. I'm wielding a SAMURAI SWORD and yet am completely unable to do any visual damage. It's a bit timid and not as satisfying as it could be, especially after Gears' chainsaw joys.

I got some time on this yesterday. I had this delivered to me and i've got no Wii to play it on so I hijacked the mate's house for a few hours.

I'm surprisingly impressed with it! When you get used to the controls it's very fun to play. My accuracy could do with a bit of work, still only averaging about 25% - 30%, but i'm getting there! How absolute quality is the shotgun.

I'm actually enjoying the swordfighting quite a bit - I expected it to be a lot simpler than it was! The way everyone was talking about it made it feel like all you did was swipe the wiimote in any random direction and it'd just take a random hit, but it is direction dependant, and the parrying / dodging I thought was a nice touch.

You really do feel the control lag though - Something that definately takes some getting used to...

has anyone finished this utter tripe yet? I think im on the last mission now, and the only reason im still playing is because i want to say ive finished the damn thing.
I havent played a more laughable and fustrating game for a very long time. And it starts off so well....

I borrowed this for the weekend and am shocked by quite how bad it is - truly awful and unintuitive. I can honestly say that after about 3 hours worth of gaming I didn't enjoy myself once.

Isn't gaming on the Wii meant to be pick up and play, breaking down barriers for the casual gamer by simplifying the way games are played. Red Steel manages the exact opposite, all while being a steaming crock of poo at the same time.

its the frankly shocking placement of the checkpoints that really have been doing my head in.

Oh actually wait, theres also the unskippable cut scenes (that are ****e), the unintentially hilarious voice acting ("you'll NEVER get the geisha's!" hmmmm..ok), AI that bounces between being complete **** and ridiculously unfair and perhaps most importantly for me, it has a soundtrack that seems to consist of 2 songs.

And its such a shame, as the fishmarket level is fantastic with amazing destructible scenery. If the rest of the game was on this kinda level, and not the ****ing gob****e it is, then we'd have a half decent title on our hands.

Its given me hours of nothing but fustration and laughing at its ineptitude. So unless you want more of the same, spend your money on something more fun like yoghurt.

ok, im done with this game, and the wii in general. im not even gonna finish the ****ing wretched thing.

I actually feel like writing to the makers of this tea coaster to vent my utter fustration at their "creation". Its a ****ing disgrace.

I agree with you about the game, however i've had some wonerful experiences with the wii and can see it being a top machine in my eyes. What pisses me off about red steel lately is the sheer amount of controls in one nunchuck

                        Shake to open door
                        shake to flip table
                        shake to pick up gun
                        Shake to reload
Shake down to melee when up close to enemy

Those last two do not work well at all and you'll end up reloading instead of slashing the enemy in a close combat firefight. Utter bull****, you'll end up dead and watching the pain inducing cutscenes/sword fights again.

Wow, I must be the only person enjoying this. Granted, it's not perfect but aside from some frustrating sword fights (I've enjoyed most of them though) I'm having fun with it

I'm still enjoying it too. It's flawed and a bit of a mess, but fun despite it all. I like the whole Yakuza thing too, so much so it's convinced me to pre-order Black Rain on HD DVD!
