Whoever said the Geisha mission was where the game becomes a chore, is lying their ass off. I thought it was excellent.

Just rinsed it out with an A, B, A rank. Warrior I think it was. Won all sword fights apart from the last one purely by using the tanto. I had to use the hammer move with the last sword fight.

The basic trick is to disarm them. Don't go for the kill. Dodge them when they move and immediately use the nunchuck to damage their sword, repeat to win. If it's not working, hit them with a few hammers to drain the sword gauge down even further. The thing to remember is you can damage their sword after destabilising them too.

The focus attacking is 100% pure win. Nothing like seeing a crowd of people infront of you, slowing time down, shooting all their guns out of their hands and making them all surrender. Piece of piss mate.

      Just completed this today.

I have to say... It's been a long time since i've enjoyed any first person shooter this much. I enjoyed the story, I enjoyed the control, the sword fighting was a joy, at least to me, and the whole thing just got better and better.

I can understand why some people might get turned away by the control method at the start, but get used to it and it's terribly efficient.

Only thing now, is it's showing 93% game completion... Anybody have any idea how to get the remaining 7%?

          Thank you. ^^

As for level ranking, no it's not. I've been reading about the percentage on GameFAQs, and they reckon you need a Samurai rating on every level to get the full percentage.

You may also need to see both of the endings, obtained by whether you choose to stop Otori after the final level or not.

My respect level is at Grand Master though, completely maxed it out half way through the game by always focusing on shooting the guns out of the enemies hands.

Time to replay thorough the levels I didn't get Samurai on, it looks like!

(Edit: I have to add there's a really, really warped glitch on this... Tilt your wiimote all the way to the right so you're holding the gun as angled to the right as you can, make sure you've got grenades, then keep tapping down on the d-pad. Your wrist starts moving in full circles. )

Just picked this up and I am really enjoying it, the only annoying thing is it doesn't save from my last check point. It loads from 3 or 4 check points previous, is anyone else having this problem? Is there something I should do before resetting/turning off the Wii?.

I started playing this today as well, and expecting it to be a really bad game (which is one of the reasons i got it). All i can say is this game may be seriously flawed in some areas, but its one of the most enjoyable (FPS) games i've played on a console to date. The controls aren't as bad as some people make them out to be and pretty spot on imo. The only thing i hate is the fact that you have to move your wiimote forward to zoom in. A little annoying.

I had this game for xmas, and despite only playing up to the massage parlour (Zelda has been in my Wii almost non-stop), i really really like it.

I am finding the wiimote works really well, and only on odd occasions i am making mistakes.

I was very reluctant to get it due to the poor reviews, but im glad i ignored them, and went with my gut instinct. Like someone mentioned earlier - pure marmite game!

It only saves (after a reset or return to the menu) at the checkpoints where it stops to load for a few seconds and shows you a tutorial screen with how to do something. The mid-level checkpoint saves only seem to work if you die, not switch off the machine.

                  Loving the game, though.

                    Red Steel Bug... and fix

Just a heads up for those who are actually prepared to give Red Steel a chance...

Firstly, yes. If this game was a gamecube, PS2 or Xbox game it'd get about a 5/10 but on the Wii it works much better I think. I've given it about 4 hours of my time now and things are getting better. All apart from one thing actually:

The aiming seemed erratic the other night, something I'd not noticed at the start of the game. Anyway, it seems that this is caused by a bug involving the Wiimote speaker. Turn the wiimote speaker volume down to zero i.e. off and the problem goes away making for a muchy more enjoyable, if basic, shooter. The swordfights become much harder too and it starts to become a real challenge.

I'm not suggesting anyone go out and buy it as it is clearly a rushed and unfinished title but if you already have it then you actually make the game quite enjoyable with this 'fix'.

                    Brad

VERY late to this one. Ive been getting some games together to tradin for my Elite 360 upgrade (going to trade my core up for one so I can have 1080p on HDDVD on my Sony X via HDMI) and I got this with my machine (was compulsory deal back chrimbo time). Cant say I had any intrest in it after the reviews and seeing videos so its been sat sealed till about 40mins ago. I havent used my Wii much since getting it (my own fault been on 360 or PS3 I just keep meaning to but too many games to play) and even RE4 hasnt been used much. Was just going to try Trauma Centre (as it is released on PAL today) and thought I better try this first as it was on my to trade pile. All I can to do it justice is I wont be trading it. Find it great, very intuative control system for a FPS, it doesnt give me motion sickness thankfully and Im just finding it a very enjoyable ride. Yea the graphics arent much to write home about but the Wii was never the reason I bought one for that task it was for the controller and that works well. Just got past the bit where you get the Sword (start of level 2) and I can see this keeping me off Ninja Gaiden Sigma (totally hooked on that) and Golf 5 today.

Seems to have been said many times already, just forget the reviews and try for yourself, you will hopefully be pleasantly suprised

glad to read I'm not the only one late to the party on this, Argos have it in their 2 for £40 section (along with Eledees ) so I've just picked this and that up this weekend.

Hehe aye. My dad was sat watching me playing it yesterday and laughing at me with the sword fights. Then started tutting at me when I got to a section and tried killing "innocents" I just find it fun, its nowt special to look at but it plays really well so I be happy

I finished this just over a month ago and I have to say I really enjoyed it. It is clear that it was rushed out in time for the launch, but it does a number of things very well including the controls IMO. Then again I despise using dual analogues for FPS games so any alternative control scheme was likely to make me happy.

The sequel has the potential to be a quality title if they take their time with it and add online multiplayer.
