He should have told you to go next door and buy a potion and a map. If you talk to him again it'll tell you your current mission.

They're fine, generally. Just a bit weak in some areas. I find them a bit overly bright and lacking in contrast at times. Kind of how Harmony of Dissonance was. And there's a really tacky highlight effect they use round usable bits of scenery. Mostly it's good, though, and some of the bosses look great.

Also, using the Vampire Killer a lot with Jonathan doesn't seem to actually affect him in any way (it killed his pop in Bloodlines/The New Generation)
Huh? Please tell me you didn't just unwittingly reveal a plot twist there...how did the Vampire Killer kill John Morris? Or is John Morris not really Johnathan's dad...?

Please tell me it largely looks like DOS rather than HOD. I really don't care for HOD that much although i have beat HOD more than once (Not just maxim, whole game)

He is his dad, yeah. It doesn't really spoil anything in PoR, but sorry if you chaps have yet to beat Bloodlines! My bad. Actually, I haven't played through Bloodlines in quite a while... John's death might have been retconned in by Igarashi.

Basically, because the Morris' aren't true Belmonts, they can't use the VK for long without being killed by its REAL ULTIMATE POWER. You're told not to use it much in PoR once you get it to recognise you as its true owner (that's not a spoiler either, I hope :P), but it seems like you can use it all you want...

Got this today with the preoder bonus ready for a christmas trip away. Is it worth opening the seal on the bonus or keeping it sealed? I don't normal keep things sealed but seen as you don't need to open it to play the game...

Ok, will get the negative out the way first. Got this game this morning and played it few hours and i'm going straight back to after typing this so i must like it.

Graphically it is a step down from Sorrow, some of the enemy sprites look as though they have been ripped straight from Harmony and they're not too pretty *sigh*

Also, to me for some reason so far it feels like Harmony but in a good way, don't worry though, Johnathon and Charlotte don't move like retards like Harmony.

Pluses, yes it is castlevania, it feels like castlevania and it plays decent but back to my original point it feels like a step down from sorrow, but this may change as POR may get better, so we'll have to wait and see.

Portrait addition is ace, the quest option seems like fun, i just gotta get out of my head about harmony as it isn't very good IMO. (hod)

What i've said sounds a bit negative, guess i am underwhelmed that so far it feels like progression hasn't been made but that may change and i'm still enjoying it.

                    Back to it now..

Just spent the last more a less 2 hours with it, gota few more bosses in and it definitely is good. I'm definitely clicking with it, but perhaps just not as much as i hoped for. The music isn't as good as Sorrow so far unfortunately, although portrait 2 area is kinda good.

This isn't a bad game by any stretch of the imagination, going to give me eyes a 30 minute rest then i'm back to it again. Still hope it picks up so more though.

Triple post! ~ I'm getting it, i'm getting it, i'm getting it! Has taken me a good 4-5 hours but atleast, i'm getting what i had hoped for, firstly i used a knife because Jonathon in red with a whip reminded me to much of Juste and that worked ^ ^

I felt let down with some of the enemy sprites, they looked very basic and ripped from HOD but they're some beauties, the devil wheel looks good, and then there are some others that are from other games but definitely not ripped or they have been enhanced atleast which is what CV fans deserve!

I'm doing quests as i go along, i'm feeling it now, its good, my only gripe is the music its been pretty lacklustre so far apart from the sand part (sorry forget the name now!)

                        It's good.

It's been a while since I played Bloodlines but I'm pretty sure it isn't revealed that John Morris is related to Dracula, it would go against the plot of the game, which is supposed to follow on from the original Bram Stoker book. Note: I might be reading what you said wrong, but that's the impression that I got from your original post.

That is a stupid plot twist, anyway. It makes no sense at all. I love IGA and the stuff he's done with the Castlevania series recently but he seems to have a fondness for silly plot twists, and that's something that the CV series has never really been about.

Lest we forget the ending of Castlevania: Legends for the GB where it was revealed that Alucard is the father of the Belmont line!

Whoa, John Morris is Jonathan Morris' dead dad, not Dracula's son or anything! Sorry if I was being vague. I'm sure you already know, but the Vampire Killer is the name of the whip - I wasn't referring to a person killing John, just the whip's magic.

John and Jonathan can only use the VK for a short while because of their half-Belmont lineage, but it doesn't actually seem to affect you in this game. That's all I meant. :P

Gah, now I feel like a massive geek. I don't even care for plots or timelines in my games.

There is humour in this game too, practically in abundance if you look for it as well as obvious stuff, i like it, it is light hearted though.

Ah right, I did think I was getting the wrong end of the stick for a moment there!

That is still a pretty dumb plot point though, John Morris used the VK for the whole of Bloodlines (which saw him trotting the globe) and there was no mention of it harming him in any way. And as you seem to state, it doesn't hurt his son either - so why did IGA change the story?

I'll reserve ultimate judgement until I play the game - my copy should be here any day now...
