I'm really taking my time with this game. I've played through the first 2 missions twice and replayed the start of mission 2 a whole bunch of times. I love that bit right at the start with the rolling Akrids, been using it as a training room trying out different ways to get around using them and the grapplehook as well as ways to make them destroy each other, etc. Great part of the game!

Only up to the big funky worm and determined not to bitch out until I've brought the bastard down

Am having a simlair experience, taking nice and slow through the campaign while getting tore into live. I also love the rolling Akrid fights... love getting a grenade in their path as they are rolling and watching them sprawl on their backs after the nade goes off, then finish them off with a few shotgun blasts to the botty, hehe.

What's the best way to take down a pirate that's in a mech?
I've just been blasting with the assault rifle, and chucking grenades if I'm not in a mech myself. Is there an easier way I'm not seeing? For instance just shooting the driver in the head or something?

The shotgun on this game is ace. There is one particular boss later on where 2x VS shotguns work a treat.

If I clock the game tonight I'm going back and wiping out the worms and that moth. They should be well easy now after what I've had to go through.

I've just been skanking them with rockets. Where ever there are enemy mechs there are sure to be rockets somewhere. Try grappling onto them and then hitting RT before you land for a bit of probing gun action. Perhaps you can try planting a gum grenade on them that way?

I was on that stage for ages yesterday...
I took the worm down and found the
                explorer.

I really started getting into the

                mech fight

at the end and was starting to own - was quality

Getting a bunch of them to surface, then climbing up onto the veranda while they go nuts below is wicked. Then sending them flying with a nade through the debris >_< If they hadn't scared the crap out of me when I first encountered that area they wouldn't have got such repeated harsh treatment - still they come back for more though...

Totally, its the same as the big spider like ones, the first time you fight them you fire wildly, screaming "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" but once you gather your thoughts, pull your skirt up and play with a bit of calm you can dance around them using all sorts of moves. The old grapple hook, hold on, rattle a few rounds in at close range then somersault back is pretty sweet. Dont do it against the spider legs though, the bastard sent me sprawling a few times when I tried that. Was surprised wee Waynes back didnt break from the repeated smashing against the wall

I'm liking the SFZ3'esque vertical head-first drop when falling as well. He certainly takes an absolute paggering on this.

Which is a shame. I have struggled to get into Dead Rising because the save points seem MILES apart, and I find it hard to motivate myself.

How bad is it in this game? Can I restart boss battles, or do Capcom expect me to trudge through the whole level?

This game screams for coop, so lesser mortals can have a helping hand.

Is the easy mode still nails?

I loved RE4, but that game pushed my patience, but I felt the save points were pretty OK.

Dead Rising has pushed me too far.

How about this one? Have they balanced the difficulty with nice friendly save points?

There's nothing to worry about there, there are checkpoints throughout the level, and always one before the boss.
If you quit using the Quit command on the Pause menu, it'll restart you from that checkpoint when you play again.

                            That is just brilliant!

I dunno why, but for me it's Ok to need 50 plays to learn a Capcom Boss, but if I have to replay the whole level, I will give it 5 goes tops. Dead Rising (At least at the start) is a BASTARD, and I just can't be arsed with it.

If I have unlimited attempts for the bosses, then that's just fine.

                            SOLD.

Thanks for the info mate. I may be in the minority, but having no save point for a Boss Battle just doesn't interest me anymore.

I restarted on easy, sorry but it was driving me insane. Found it a far more enjoyable experience but on mission 2 that mech STILL rocketed me over and over before I could get up. Needless to say, after continuing, it took on serious ass pounding.

I'd hate to think what this is like on Extreme Difficulty.

Oh well, there's 150 points riding on it for anyone brave enough to beat the game on that setting.
