Halo 3 online mutiplayer beta.

I only had a quick 40 minute go before work, but I was impressed. The same, but better. More solid, and really crisp and clean.

Sublime, that's all can be said. I've only had one proper game, but everything just felt right. Graphically it looks great and the sound as others have said is superb, but it's just that feeling of Halo in a new and improved form which makes it all so good.

Can't wait to get a couple more games in after work, but then it's off on hols for a week !

3 weeks of this is just going to be to short, how can they take it away from us again now

edit : just checking stat's 16/7 in the first game, hope I can keep that up lol.

Assault rifle seems good, and a much better starting weapon than the SMG. I immediately went hunting for a BR and can see that I will still opt with that, but the fact that there was no one duel weilding due to the assault rifle start, made for such a better game !

Not used the laser yet, but some of my concerns were alleviated, as you can tell when someone is about to fire it down onto you, which should balance it out a bit. Snipe seems more powerfull, no scoped some guy without problem, something I could never do in 2. All the weapons in general seem more powerfull though, or the armour weaker, as people go down easier to me. If the autoaim has been toned down it's not that evident, if anything I found aim slightly easier, but that may of been not having to fight the auto aim.

While I do personally think it’s great, the graphics are hardly comparable to the gameplay.

It looks very much like Halo2, which I know a lot of people will be fine with however, this is supposed to be Microsoft’s flagship title and it is way off the make in terms of graphics.

Have you played halo 2 recently, I played it last night and can tell you it looks nothing like this. Room for improvement, yeah maybe some, like Halo 2 my arse

Anyway, after playing Halo 2 for about 4 hours last night, it is clear to me that the Beta looks considerably better.

I reckon if you liked Halo already, you'll like Halo 3. I wasn't impressed at all to be honest. Old gameplay, 'standard' graphics for this generation, uninspiring maps, etc. But then I didn't really enjoy the other Halos, I don't think they're anything special in the FPS genre.

Don?t get me wrong, I really like Halo and loving the Beta but all I?m saying is that I was expecting more graphically.

Yes, I would prefer to have a game that looks great compared to plays great however, I have my Wii for the whole Gameplay over Graphics debate, for my 360 I want my games to look fantastic.

I've got to agree, I'm trying to like this game and see what all the fuss is about, but I just can't see it. And I really hope the graphics get improved for release, they're pretty average for this generation.

If you don't like 1 and 2 it's highly unlikely your going to like 3, surely that's obvious.

I'm not going into the graphics any more. For the type of game it is it looks great, we've all been down the Gears comparison route before and it's obvious how different the games are, and we've all seen the target footage for SP, which all agreed looked great, and I'm sure bungie will reach !

Just played this for half an hour or so. First things first, the graphics aren't perfect, but they're still pretty good. Big, bold and very smooth. And as a few people have mentioned, it will probably look considerably better in single player.

The main thing is, though, that it plays an absolutely awesome game of online FPS, still peerless in the console arena if you ask me.

Just had a couple of games this morning and my first impressions aren`t great to be honest but it isn`t really the games fault. I think it looks fairly good and I think the ability to send videos of your matches to friends is really clever, but what we have is an ultra fast paced game akin to Quake and UT but played using the slowest peripheral, a control pad.

In the two games I had I played ok and got some kills but I was killed loads of times by being shot in the back and by (I thought it was only rife in GoW) beatdown from behind! The majority of the time this is due to not being able to turn quick enough or accurately enough.

As long as console FPS games are played with a controller they will always be average and second best to PC games in my opinion. I can only imagine the frustrating times ahead when the 360/Vista games are released. I was looking forward to the releases of both Shadowrun and Huxley on the 360 but if I get these games at all they will be in the PC.

I haven't played Halo 2 in a very long time, is the jump meant to be that 'floaty' ?

In my first game btw, I was spawn killed, team killed and there were plenty of camping snipers. I think the class of player for Halo is pretty down when compared to a decent online FPS.
