Grenades at only a button press away is a horrible move, and I've yet to see a game that uses this that didn't turn into a complete 'nade fest. Vegas did this and it was horrible, people just spamming grenades everywhere.

Melee is best as a humiliation as opposed to a necessity, Halo just turns into shot the guy while running at him and hope you melee the other guy before he gets you. And alot of other games melee is pretty much instagib, in CS 1.6 a knife from behind would instant kill and a knife from the front takes away at least half your health.

Loads of other guns forced you to be smarter with your weapon choices, again games like CS and other before, ofcourse Halo changes this slightly by letting you have any two, as opposed to a rifle and pistol.
That's just your personal opinion though and thousands would beg to differ (myself included). Imo the change of grenades from also rans to key weapons was a fantastic move, Halo isn't a 'nade fest at all. Melee is an essential move, as Halo's speed and maps encourage close quarters combat.

Whether you like the changes or not, Halo did innovate and has clearly influenced a huge number of games.

Granted TFC did have the F and G buttons for grenades, but I don't remember it having a seperate button for melee attacks. Obviously weapons were restricted by class, but that's not the same thing as Halo which allows you to chose weapons on the go. Nor is it the same as weapon restrictions in CS where weapons are chosen at the beginning, where the weapons do not differentiate as much as they do in Halo.

The difference with Halo's weaponry is that you can change it at any time, but each weapon has strengths and weaknesses. Because there is no best weapon, it makes the choices very tactical, asthe situation can turn on you very quickly if you are ill prepared.

There are allot of tactical ways to play Halo 2, can't say for 3 yet, you just have to work out how. If you run around like a headless chicken firing and attempting a melee then you will die often. I'm not that great at the game, but I can enjoy the tactical play of it, I always prefered what they classed as pro games in Halo 2 because of this !
I think you misinterpreted me actually, my posts combined make my point in a poor way, I'll explain.

Very little chatter + people just running off and doing their thing = boring.

I haven't been running around like a headless chicken, but it seems to me nobody tries being tactical (except Nige and his clever use of warthogs blocking doors). I should also say I've been watching MadWindy play this for about an hour and it looks boring to watch and also, watching it makes me feel the same was as playing it.

Ultimately, I don't get it and I think it's a very average game. However, people in this thread don't and won't want to hear that so I'll just stick to reading the thread instead

Hope my point did not come across as agreesive m8, was not intended that way, guess I was just trying to point out that it took me a while to find and get used to the tactics in the game, but once I did my love for it grew greatly !

          No mate not at all!

The trouble is I think that I got Halo (original) late, on the PC and was completely ambibolent to it, only recently got Halo 2 and felt the same.

For example, in Gears when you gib someone it feels like you've gibbed em. When you trace them with your lancer as they run away it feels like you're doing that and when you blow them away with a boom/grenade or whatever it FEELS good.

Now, in Vegas, the tension as you cover and fire is unbareable and SO good. Again, the headshots are so satisfying etc.

In this, there is NOTHING that makes me feel good whilst playing it, it's (perhaps) too fast paced with people jumping all over the place. You try and shoot someone, and they just jump around whilst firing at you and you die.

I will probably buy it and give the single player a go but the multiplayer is (for me at least) an incredibly bland experience albeit with some interesting game modes (the bomb one I liked, the rest were ok).

            It's a bit Jaggy innit

            Feels great to play though.

The jaggy issue is so weird. I hear that on some peoples TVs that its jaggie and in some of the captured shots it does, but on my TV and some other shots (like from Xboxyde) it looks fine..

AA's definately not on, I'm in love with the game though.

                It feels perfect.

Looks fine to me (component @ 720p). Perhaps it is a connection type/resolution thing.

I see the jagjags too. Don't bother me, but did make think 'hmm' Component 720p (Sony KDL32S2530U)

VGA @ 720p for me. Samsung TV and it looks fine.

I've played on a Samsung and a Thomson both Component 720p and looked jaggier than most 360 games I've played.

Samsung TV here using VGA, tried a few resolutions and it's still quite jaggy.

No jags for me, or if there were any they're certainly not all as noticable as many of you are making them out to be.

You'd have thought playing on a 32" set would cause them to show up more too.

Maybe the fact I'm on a 32" and sitting about 3 foot away?

This is it, It looks so poor for a 2nd gen 360 tile , Its HALO II in High def and thats all it is ,

This just isn't good enough , even Perfect Dark looked better than this , What a complete and utter letdown inthe graphic dept . Sound and gameplay has good as ever, but this a serious letdown for a flag ship title and a game meant to sell the X-Box to world 360 , and even with these poor graphics is still only runs at 30 fps .

People can call me all the names they want , in heart of hearts people should know the game should look a lot beter than this , Beta Code or not
