Halo 3 online mutiplayer beta.

Ahh, BTB has reminded me just how awesome Halo can be. In Halo2 I prefered 4v4, but since I've lost all of my skill it's more fun in 8v8 because I can get away with more mistakes

The design and implimentation of the items is perfect. Well, near perfect, I still don't know when i've picked something up. I was having so much fun with items and vehicles yesterday:
Example one - Power Drainer. Enemy comes hurtling towards me in a filled-up warthog though somehow they do not shoot me from range. I deploy Power Drainer, warthog stops DEAD, all three spartans go flying and in proximity chat all I hear is "WTF?!!?". Was such an awesome moment.

Example two - Trip mine. Following my accidental uber-teamkill I decided to be a bit more careful with this one. Mongoose driving towards me with gunner on back. Deploy trip mine, it STICKS to the vehicle, I manage to jump it (!!), spin around and watch my double kill light up the screen. Awesomness.

All it's down to is putting the time in to learn it - I feel a bit sorry for all those who were so quick to dismiss it - Lonely times ahead on xbox live for them

I've noticed the Spartan Laser is indeed too powerful, as you don't need to have perfect aim to get the kill. I've sniped a few people out of the air when I know I've missed.

Couplea questions - the movie mode. Can you only view from your first person? I was hoping all the views and time controls would be in for the beta.

Dual Wielding...erm...I haven't figured out how yet!

Yeah movie mode for now is just rewatching the match but you can still share 'em - It's good watching a battle you were in from another participants perspective

Dual wielding - Use LB to pick up the 2nd weapon and then RB and LB are reload for each weapon !!!

Moment of the beta so far for me yesterday. Yoshi and I think Dave and Tommy were stashed under the bubble shield trying to capture point 2 on Highground. I managed to just sneak in enough to chuck a grenade inside. Cue a triple kill while they thought they were all safe

Hmm I've tried that, must not be over the right weapons.

Also I noticed that if you hide in the bubble shield while playing King of the Hill it doesn't register you being inside the hill. And don't get me started on the fact you can't see anything from within the hill!

I think they'll probably adjust the transparency of those perimiters - On snowbound the one in the cave is just nuts when you're holding it - Motion sensor is your online vision - maybe that's intentional ???

Certains weapons don't dual wield now (plasma laser/needler)

Bungie gimped the beta version just to give fans a real small taste of whats to come. In the final version, you'll be able to pause, rewind change camera (third person, other players, free view) etc. You'll also be able to show people it in the Theater and pinpoint stuff out. Another cool feature is that you'll actually be able to cut out specific parts of the movie and send it to friends.

Saved films will also be available in Single player as well .

Was looking at some of the graphical touches yesterday, you can actually see other peoples bulletcounter if you get the chance, and it's not some default image, actually goes down when they shoot and represents how much ammo they have left. The real time reflection on the Banshee is pretty awesome as well, it's quite nice to see when you barrel roll the top of your banshee go green as you face underneath.

Why do 96% of American players quit out when they so much as start losing slightly?

It really winds me up, especially when you have an hour of play left and you get nothing but a stream of 6 vs. 2 matches.

If you quit out of a match it should give you 5 minutes before you can enter another one, as well as drop you down a couple of ranks.

Will be on again tonight although my stress levels are increasing now.

I also can't understand how people repeatedly get headshots with the sniper rifle with so much lag in some cases, I even have problems assassinating f**kers.

Hehe only had a couple of problems with lag, well they were to my benefit actually, managed to assasinate someone with melee from about 5 meters

It seems to handle lag much better now as you don't rubber band all over the place, you stay stuck to the ground.

Has anyone got a quote from Bungie that Saved Films will be available in single-player? I don't know if it'll be included, but it'd also be good to be able to jump in as a spectator to live games like you could with PGR. I was kind of hoping that'd be in this Beta.

I think it was in EGM they said it. http://h3da.ascendantjustice.com/ says saved films will be available for the campaign, and they only say stuff when they can get something to back it. They have a bunch of quotes from EGM and so on, may be worth looking into for your own personal confirmation.

I'm heading home in around 20mins. Hopefully tonight won't be as barren as last night, I'd hate to pay £40 or whatever for Halo 3 to find myself cashing it in (not even trading it in) after two weeks because no one plays it anymore.
