I had no technical problems with the PS2 version at all and that includes my second playthough doing the time-trials too. I can only guess your troubles are specific XB360 issues.
I still reckon this reworking of TR1, with certain provisos, was a praiseworthy effort which, at times, even improved on the original.
I was very down on Crystal Dynamics for what they did to TR in Legend but TR: A restored my confidence. Was this all down to having to follow the outstanding design of the original game is the real question? They certainly mucked up certain areas and showed a disturbing lack of imagination in repeating some 'puzzles' several times when they went off the original template.
Whatever the answer TR: A has certainly made me much more enthusiastic about the prospect of TR: Underworld than I would have been otherwise.
