Try it in a single room, where it can't scroll. Point somewhere and watch him go there. Unless they've changed it for the US release this is, but I don't see why they would. My friends got stuck at a point where you have to make Link jump because they couldn't get the idea that Link follows the fairy, but thought they had to use the stylus to push Link.
Don't think they've changed it for the US version, I've only had half an hour on it so far, not really had an issue with the controls so I didn't take much notice.

I see, but now you know when you get to the jumpy part not to get disheartened.

I read that there is a "special" version out where you can use teh d-pad to control Link too. 0_o
      Kept you waiting, huh?

This game is taking up a large chunk of my free time, totally love the look of it and the controls.

The little things are also making me smile, such as the way link stumbles over if you spin attack to much lol

Level wise Im really liking the design and also the whole hiding from patrols and things adds a nice twist to it. Its like having Wind Waker handheld which is as close to my ideal DS game as im likely to get

Need to get some friend codes on the go for swapping items now

That's interesting - does this mean that the standard version of the game forces you to control link exclusively with the stylus? I hated that with metroid and got shot of it as soon as I could.

It doesn't matter how good a game is, if the control method doesn't gel with me, it's time in the machine it's developed for is limited at best.

i'm loving the stylus only control and find in a longer session I don't suffer from hand cramps, which is a good thing.

expect to see a whole raft of titles copy this control method in the coming months.

Oh well, that's £20-£25 not leaving my bank account then. Shame really as I'm a big Zelda fan.

If Nintendo can't accomodate for people who prefer to use traditional control methods as well then it's their loss. I'd imagine it's a similar affair for Southpawers and FPS games.

                  Eh, traditional?

You realise you've bought a machine with two screens, a funny pen and a mic, right?

Can't you accomodate for Nintendo who have chosen to use a non-traditional control method?

I could, but I shouldn't have to. How is my gripe any different to that of a South Pawer? Why is it so difficult for them to adapt to left stick movement/right stick camera?

Anyway, you said that there was a special version of the game with Dpad movement, can you provide a link as to where you obtained this information?

Shouldn't have to? wtf? Should you have to use an analogue stick at all, or do you prefer "traditional" d-pad, oh wait, that was new once, so single keys then to control your games?

If you are a big Zelda fan you will love this game, don't worry about the stylus control, it works perfectly.

You both make good points though. Why can't they make this game have the options of either stylus control or traditional old school controls? I wish they would with the new Wii Mario Kart.

I think we're off topic from the game now though.

                              Stylus control>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>any other method.

I find it bizarre that people would want to use the d-pad and buttons, I really do.

If you've ever used a joystick before then using an analogue stick isn't exactly a world apart from that.

I'm used to using a stylus with my pocket PC or something to point at - I'm not used to using a stylus to control something.

The whole argument is probably pointless anyway as Nintendo have apparently a special D-Pad control version available somewhere.
