Now that you've all had a good few days playing time (lucky gits) how would you rank it in the series?

( FZero (snes), FZero X (N64), FZero Max. Velocity (GBA))

      1. F Zero GX
      2. F Zero X
      3. F Zero
      4. F Zero: Terminal Velocity

I've been rinsing both X and the ol' SNES version till recently - GX takes the series further.

Nice, can't wait. X is still my most played N64 title to date (the 4 player bouts are still as amazingly addictive as they were 4 years ago- hope the battle moves are as subtle and as effective as they were in X)

        Roll on August the 25th!

Wickededest thing about it is that all the F Zero X cars still handle exactly the same as they did in the N64 game. You can transfer your skills across perfectly, except this time it's MUCH more challenging!

There are nice differences tho - they take a while to set in but they work beautifully - like the new powerslides, you dont lose speed for sliding now so you can take corners like a nutter!

            Good good!

Can't wait to jump back into the seat of the old Fire Sting Ray- THE best FZero X car by a long shot.

About the powerslides : that's one thing that did annoy me with X- you used to drift out sideways when you took a sharp corner, causing you to lose quite a bit of speed. Is that no longer the case in GX?

You can fling the car really hard into a corner to cause the back end to slide out - or you can hold both airbrakes to activate a powerslide. Once in the slide you can use the stick to direct the nose - you can even boost while in the slide.

              Fire Stingray != Big Fang

Yes Saur, very nice - you can stop any time now

I've got 2 cards full of custom cars too - MWAAHAHAAHA!

All of mine handle terrible tho - you get some mental names with the right combinations, got Dragoon last night (handles like **** but it's stupidly fast)

I am gonna look into the Customising tonite. Talk about getting your moneys worth. Force Feedback wheel soon too methinks.

There's a nasty exploit in the handling that turns time attack into a complete sham.

49 secs to do Mute City I:

You pick a heavy ship and just flick the stick (and the appropriate airbrake) left and right rapidly and you get a mental boost - somewhat like in Rave Racer on Viva Nonno.

                      Shame.
Yeah, I already put that little cheating technique to the test and can now score 52 seconds on MC1. I'm unsure about allowing these times over on the time attack thread becuase IMHO it really does spoil the game - this happened about a week after F-Zero X was released. I think a vote is in order...

Also.. here is how I rank the games.

                      F-Zero GX
                      F-Zero GBA
                      F-Zero X
                      F-Zero

                      ---------------------

I have now unlocked everything on master, including AX Cup. Paid 99 race points for the 'sound mix' and it turns out all that does is allow you to select pilot profile backing tracks for your recorded replays by pressing L+R. Disappointing. ft:

Still stuck on v.hard missions 3,4, and 6. Attempting 7, 8 and 9 would be a waste of time right now.

@David... do you just do the airbrake/flick thing, or do you actually use boost as well? Curious... does the technique up your speed sufficiently to not need it...

As mentioned, had done AX on the lower two difficulties, I beat the other two difficulties first attempt with the good ol' Fire Stingray. Placed top 6 in all races on Master for it, also coming 1st in Lightning. Sadly nothing new is opened up for beating AX on Master

Thanks for the answer on the BGM mode David... I bought it last night and for the life of me couldn't find where it bloody well got used... least I know now and will have a check tonight.

My ranking of the 4 games in the series...

                        F-Zero X
                        F-Zero GX
                        F-Zero
                        F-Zero GBA

The difference between the top two however is so minute as to be hard to separate them currently...

Any tips I can give you David for Story #3 on Very Hard? As I said, it took me hardly any more effort to beat it on that than it did for Hard. Just keep boosting as much as possible, even in the tight spots. Also jam as much speed as you can into the first jump pad, you can literally fly across the whole 3 bends, and land right on the refill strip. Where you can then fill up the power meter and boost straight into the second jump pad
Lie with passion and be forever damned...

The double airbrake method for taking corners at high speed is just brilliant.

A good place to practice it is on Sand Ocean I. Just after the boost recharger there is a fairly long right turn. Once you get past the turn there is quite a sharp S bend. As you approach the S bend press Boost, as soon as your ready to turn press down both airbrakes, start the turn and press Boost again, as soon as the bend turns the other way steer left and just as your about to finish the turn press Boost again and get back onto the straight (release both airbrakes.)

When you take a S bend at full speed and cleanly its a great feeling.

I keep noticing crafts with a Z after them in the time attack board. Is this a customised cratf or an unlockable ???

This game is amazing though and my time are starting to come down now, still nowhere near as fast as you guys yet.

Have to say that it is rivalling VJ for best Cube game of the year so far
