Halo 3

The story was certainly lacking something until it got to the half-way point. Without spoiling anything, the first half of the game barely has any characterisation to it at all. Halo 2 might have been weak structurally, but you got more of a sense of who the characters were. 3 does eventually come together in last four hours though, thankfully.

I finished it I was talking about graphics dont get me started on the ending lol
I also hated that there were plot points from the books ! so me playing the games does not have the full story

I'm sure there are going to be be spin-offs, but will there be a Halo 4?

It'll be interesting to see what engine Halo Chronicles uses though considering it's supposed to be more cinematic/character-based.

I'm sure there will be a Halo 4 in some form or another, I doubt that there will never be another Bungie made FPS with the Master Chief as the main character

Wow.

Just finished a 9 hour sys link coop session and honestly I thought this was absolutely briliant. Best in the series, and as someone who adores the Halo1 campaign that means a lot.

The pacing is by far the best in the series and I didn't think there was any lulls in this regard. I guess the quality does dip towards the end slightly but it was still a very satisfying way to finish. Some real quality in the set pieces and the plot was handled better than the rest too - it actually made sense this time even when handling quite a complicated plotline.

All in all, a good days Halo. And I haven't even touched multiplayer

I got the third ending, there is a bit that plays after the bit that plays after the credits that shows a...darker situation than the after the credits ending shows. If I understood it right anyway! Replay the final level from the last checkpoint on Legendary to get it. You'll have to do the whole last section

Great game, enjoyed the campaign as much as I enjoyed Bioshock, but I will be getting A LOT more milage out of this one.

Has anyone mentioned the low volume of the gun effects? The guns are so quiet. I don't know if it's a sound problem on my end -- I'm just using my TV's stereo sound. I assume nobody else has this problem, since there isn't widespread conversation about it.

Not the level specific ones but I'm sure I missed out on the combat ones like killing 4 people in a vehicle etc.

Yeah, compared to Halo and Halo 2, the sound mix in 3 was slightly off. I found the music too quiet and drowned out a lot of the time, and on the odd occasion it was hard to make out what some of the Elites were saying in the cutscenes.

I got one very early in the first level. Just 5 points for some pink mist thing. No idea what it was.

the ship gets ripped in two by the portal closing while they are travelling though. I don't quite know how the arbiter would have made it back but hey. The third ending shows a little more though I have to admit I haven't grasped the full extent of it

I mentioned it somewhere earlier in this thread thinking that it was just me or just the 5.1 track - shame to hear that it's the same in 2.0

And I guess I'm just never getting any achievements for some reason then - there are a few I should've had by now (the ones for finishing chapter one and two are the most obvious ones I'm missing!).

Well, before finding out about the Legendary ending, I assumed after the Aribter said 'if it were only that simple' (with regards to the Chief's send off) that he'd somehow known the Chief was still alive and they'd parted ways off-camera. But if that doesn't happen then I guess it makes the Forerunner introducion a little more puzzling.
