It's a big bridge with loads of nasties on it. My Arbiter is long dead. I have no weapons. There are grunts all over the side I'm on and a few bigger guys. Snipers are everywhere. If I do manage to take out the guys on this side of the bridge (manage it most times now, depending on pure chance with the snipers), the guys on the bridge slaughter me no matter which route I take. The guy in this next pic never seems to drop and either kills me or chases me out into sniper fire.

I wouldn't be lying if I said I've tried this well over 60 times by now. Probably much higher. I'm on heroic. Is there something I'm missing? Should I start again on heroic and hope I get there with better weapons? Or should I just restart on normal?
I just had a few problems myself this evening at the exact same bit. I took out all the guys on this side of the bridge and got a check point. Make sure you don't lure the guys on the bridge over at this point and as you say watch out for sniper fire. If you wait then the guys on the bridge should come to you in fairly easy to manage groups.

When you come to take on the hammer brute make sure he uses his invinciblity when he is miles away, he only gets this once and its a pain in the arse when your right beside him when he uses it. Grenade splash damage and a couple of battle rifles to the head should make him switch it on.

    Also your

Arbiter should come back to life, not sure how you do it but I've seen his sword lying around and then suddenly I'll hear him talking to me again.

Hope some of that is helpful. I probably restarted that bit around 10 times and I was almost ready to put my controller through my TV

Run backround to the top of the cliff that is overlooking the whole area and right at the back are the sniper swines, try and take them out with a carbine or the battle rifle, or even better with a sniper rifle.

To the right of your first pic you have hop up on a crate and smash through a window to get a good view of the bridge without being harmed, killed some brutes at long range again and slowly pick your way across. Remember a sticky grenade on a brute is an instant kill.

Been playing this more enthusiasticaly than ive played any game in a long time, if ever, and now just have to say...

Im not usualy compeled to defend games, much less ones that dont really need it, but really, think about it, next time you all are riding that warthog and get hit by a grenade, and spin miles out of control... are you annoyed?, or do you just have a great big grin on your face?.................................. i arrest my case. This game has took the formula and just perfected it.

go under the bridge and have a weapon thats good at close range on hand... all there is too it really, I actualy strugled more on this bit on normal becuase i tried to go over the top rather than under.

Just done 4 player co-op on Legendary in no more than 5 hours in one sitting, was great fun, such a laugh! Me and MrKirov and 2 other guys that I dont think are on here.

Cant remember the last time I completed a game for the second time less than a week after the first, and all in one sitting too. Shows how much I love this game. Absolute gem!

Does anyone know how the scoring works exactly? I tried it last night in co op with 2 other players on legendary with a couple of skulls turned on. After the level we had a score of around 22000 but didn't get the achievement. The game was set to Team scoring btw.

Edit: Nevermind, Bungie have a nice guide for it on their site:

managed to get the last skull - felt great to finalyl get that done. Only solo experiance left is completing solo legendary - which is a bitch.

Thanks for the tips on that section guys. Neko, thanks especially for the tip on the checkpoints - I thought if I restarted, I would have to go to the very start of the mission. So I started just a bit earlier and am no much better prepared totake on that section. Hoping I can do it today.

Also glad I'm not the only one with a bit of trouble there.

How easy is it to beat on Legendary with 4 people? I've got 2 days before I start back at work and it would be nice to think I spent my time productivly

hammer Brute doesn't have invincibility, there are no jackal snipers, and the snipers in the previous area only have carbines rather than beam rifles

. I dread to think what it'll throw at us on legendary.
I've played this part on Legendary and didn't find it any tougher than Heroic.

Before this was released I thought Frankie said the difficulty and number of enemies increased depending on the amount of co-op players, which I was pleased to hear because if two of us can breeze through the first two on Legendary then this will be too easy with four, then I read this in Bungie's Campaign Scoring 101:

the amount of enemies in the game does not automatically scale with the introduction of more players. So, four people will basically have ? as many kills as they would if they played the same settings by themselves

In general does Legendary introduce more enemies than the other difficulties, just not based on the amount of players?

Is there no way to open custom games to the public? Last night all me and 3 friends wanted to do was set up 4 vs. 4 ctf on a specific map and play whoever fancied dropping in, and it wasn't possible. After years of pc gaming this seems like the most basic requirement and, unless we have missed something obvious, this option doesn't exist. In the end it was random gametypes and maps with the match maker always filling the roster to the maximum 5 vs.5. We didn't once get to play the level and gametype we wanted - infact we ended up playing a load of crappy ones on maps I wouldn't have chosen to play them on - it was rubbish.

                            You can get the

extended end cutscene by finishing the game on Normal and then using the level select on the campaign screen to do the "Halo" level but start from "Mission Point Alpha" on Legendary difficulty. I tried it cheekily not expecting anything but bugger me when it worked! All that effort for an extra 10 seconds of space footage

No I didn't care. Because in HALO1 the Warthog run was a new experience and an epic finale. My problem is not with the Warthog run in HALO1, it's with the rehashing of it in HALO3. Why can't you grasp that.
