For me level 2 was the low point due to it's abysmal visuals and repetetive gameplay. Yellow corridors seemingly forever. I also thought the 2nd half of the last level was dull, again due to awful graphics and boring repetetive gameplay. Yes it'a an homage of sorts to Halo 1, but it was so wide open and barren and also so ridiculously easy (Halo 1 at least put up a challenge there on Heroic and Legendary) it just wasn't any fun and a poor conclusion to the game.

That aside, I watched the documentaries on the 2nd disc tonight and found them pretty soulless and boring. Nowhere near as good as the susprisigly honest docu that came with Halo 2. The crunch docu was probably the best, as the rest were really just Bungie saying 'look how great we are', when the actual tech and art in the finished game is far from top tier.

Still a thoroughly entertaining game though, one of the best this year. (but not I feel, in the same league as Bioshock)
I found the Halo 2 Docs pretty Dull and mostly come across like theyd all spent way too much time playing the multi player, then had to rush the single player bit when they realised they had little time left.

This game is f-ing amazing the scale is unreal and beats the overrated sh8t that is GOW in to bloody mess . Sure charcaters are a letdown (well they're poor inthe gfx dept) , but the Environments , scale and lighting are the best I’ve seen so far , and the gameplay is pure class and pure ‘HALO’ and that to me seals the deal .

          For once EDGE was right

That's why the docu was so interesting, it showed how badly they messed up. The Halo 3 docus were mostly self congratulatory fluff pieces.

Can you honestly say you thought the environments in levels 2 and 9 were good looking? I found those to be some of the worst 360 visuals I've ever seen.

Other levels were fortunately much better, but those two definitely soiled the overall experience.

I haven't made it to level 9 just yet . But to me it's just like HALO , the odd dull level with Endless corridors made up for massive open environments when you get out side with a view that goes on for as long as the eye can see , and imo the lighting isthe best I've ever seen

I noticed yesterday that the helmet visor reflection is real, you can actually see the environment reflected in it

                    Truely an amazing game!!

Warthog Run at the end was just brilliant

, not a bad word to say about this.

                    Time for Multiplayer

I haven't made it to level 9 either but I didn't think mission 2 was comparable with Halo 1's dull corridors at all. Yeah, the setting looked dull (though made perfect sense with what was going on and led to the outdoor sections having more impact) but what was going on was a hell of a lot more interesting that Halo1, which didn't just have repeated visuals, but repeated enemy placements making you feel like you were just doing the same thing over and over.

The indoor sections of Halo1 were a real chore for me. And, no, I didn't think the outdoor sections made up for them.

But, for me, Halo 3 does not share the same problem. Not by a long shot. Gameplay wise, though there are some archaic mechanics at work with the eyeball on a stick controls (how tough is it to climb a bleedin' ladder?), I think 3 has made excellent progress and the enemy setups are fantastic.

So, can someone tell me how the story finishes please? I went to make tea after we finished it yesterday and missed everything. Thanks!

Started legendary after my mate soiled my HD with an initial normal select. Not feeling things so far as I'm only towards the end of the 1st mission.

Same old same old for me so far - This gun, this much ammo, these enemies here, those enemies over there, kill em in this order, move to checkpoint, repeat (add dying loads of times before the 'path' becomes clear). I will continue playing mind but I just don't get what makes campaign so immense in these games.

Co-op would be more fun but certainly a helluva lot easier. Absolutely no reason a team of four of us wouldn't be able to cane through with minimal death afaic tbph.

One thing I will say is I'm really liking the music this time. Halo music has never really stood out for me until now.

Need a router sorting out so I can play this and Warcraft at the same time. Anyone got an old basic non-wireless 4-port going cheap/free?

The music varies between absolutely unsubtle crap, to quite inspiring.

I know exactly what you mean but I like the subtle crap even.

Had enough orchestral bollocks to de me a life-time.

I tried custom soundtracks, but got warned I'd have no dialogue! That's a bit odd, innit?
