    Toughen up Goddammit

I think I know where you are - you start with a few marines, just through the end of the bridge ? Few guys in front to your right, pile of buildings ahead & left and rocket guys mixed with all sorts ?

If so, there's a BR about you should get some headshots off, grenades from afar and remember you can commandeer your teammates guns if need be

I tried to clear some of the ground then headed for the buildings to the left and you can work your way through them to the back - along the way among other things you'll get a shotgun, sniper rifle and about 3 trip mines and a gun emplacement in the last building.

    Get killin'.

Ahh I THINK I know where you mean, Its just before the bit i mentioned. Is there a few large pipes lying around? I think i had a shotgun atthis bit and hid in one of the pipes and kept poping out and picking them off one at a time and meleeing whenever i could. The Backpack guys are actualy pretty crap at hitting you, once youve despatched everyone else just follow their movements in the air and be where they land and blast them with the shotgun too.

Probabaly not the best advice but not sure what else to say really. Sorry.

        Thanks....

my dudes have done one or have passed away.. I'm on my own. There's an embankment on the left with a couple of structures and what maybe a tunnel at the back of it further down, but it's rife with the flying jetpack ones.... the middle path has a shed load of rocket firing and green splodge firing fellas backed up by a Wraith... yeah it sound right from what you said. Just don't see a BR(?) about. Manage to balg a carbine, but run out of ammo quick enough still leaving loads of fellas waiting to bum me.

I'm simply not tough enough and may have to wait for some co-op back.

        @rmoxon, yeah that's the place.

That Cortana level everyone hates. Is that

the one with the flood inside the big anus (as people seem to be calling it)? I just finished that and didn't really like it. I had several problems. Firstly, I couldn't make out where I was or where I was trying to go. Then, I couldn't see any point in killing the enemies because they just keep on coming. So that just left running and dodging, which the Halo mechanics aren't really designed for. Certainly not in a disorienting location. The level didn't really work with the strengths of the game.

Am I right in thinking there is no point whasoever in me killing the flood trying to go up that tower to the control room in the next level?

Are the checkpoints shifting depending on my progress? I've noticed a few times, I'll get no checkpoint for ages, then die but when I go through it again I get one or even two checkpoints across the same distance.

Yeah, checkpoints are mostly rule-based unless there is a specific scripted event.

The first half of the last level on heroic was probably more annoying for me than the penultimate one was on normal (I just legged it through this time instead of trying to play the game properly).

Oh these Resident Evil rejects are annoying me now.

Am I missing strategy for getting up this tower? I can only find a decent route up to the right of it but the flood are everywhere and it doesn't seem like trying to kill them first is an option as they just keep on dropping more. I've been trying to concentrate on the ones with the weapons but, as they can drop behind me, every time I turn around there's a new gang of them. And I've made it up to the next level two or three times and get slaughtered up there.

There must be a strategic move I'm missing, right? Is there a way of stopping these guys dropping first that I haven't released?

              Yikes.

er, it does feel like they just keep dropping in forever but actually they aernt, you can just fight a massive war of attrition against them and eventually they stop spawning, it takes forever but it's how I did it on legendary.

I'm on Tsavo Highway, just got off the broken bridge where it seems my vehicle can't go no further, I turn the corner and clear the grunts and stuff, then loads of backup comes jetpack dudes the lot... I have about 300 bullets in my assualt rifle and 3 rockets in my launcher thingy. I'm basically getting bummed out there. No one is coming close enough for me to pinch a better weapon. There's a big group of what look like Elites with big green blob gun in the centre of my path and a Wraith just behind them having a laugh at my expense I'm on Heroic and now kind of wishing I hadn't acted so hard in choosing that difficulty

Get up onto the walkway/bridge that's over the end of the highway & there's a sniper rifle with just enough ammo to headshot most of the Brutes down by the Wraith. You can just pick them off from here while occasionally dodging Wraith fire.

I'd fought down to the buildings on the left & managed to kill the jetpack dudes that fly in around the back. Was getting wasted by the Brutes & Wraith afterwards though so got up onto the cliffs & ran back to the walkway hoping to find some useful weapon.
The sniper had just enough ammo to pick off all the remaining Brutes from the walkway leaving the Wraith to finish off. Legged it back jumped onto it & stuck it with a grenade.

I found it's better to kill them, on legendary it was simply impossible to run past them, they will just keep shooting you down. Take it slow, waste em all, they drop a lot of good weapons, even swords I think.

I too was dying a lot here and went up to where you find x weapon and did my best. Still a few fatties about so I ran back a bit more and looked at the view for a while. Came back, ran around a bit and then extra troops turned up to help. ****ing weird that I thought but it sure did even the fight in my favour Kick ass!

Not looking forward to the anus level on Heroic as it was crap (no pun) on normal

The "Anus level" didnt actually seem that much harder on Heroic than normal to be honest, infact i think I died less times... still boring though.

Finally completed it on Heroic which was much more fun than playing it on normal, the opening level in particular was a very tactical affair though strangely, also easily the most difficult.

Regarding the MVP achievement, how exactly do you earn it? I was playing a ranked free-for-all slayer match yesterday and, for once, actually won a game and, ever rarer, had the fewest deaths and most medals but still didn't get the achievement.

get the most kills out of every player, you can still 'lose' the match if it's a team game so long as you came out top.

Some checkpoints only become active if you kill all (or at least a few specific) enemies. I think it's to stop the player doing a mad dash between checkpoints without killing anything.

Don't know if you guys realised this but since the Flood infect dead bodies, the best way to stop them spawning is to pwn the corpses. In the Cortana level I used regular weapons / melee attacks to fight the Flood and rationed out the flame thrower for corpse burning
