Just picked up the demo of this on PAL 360. It's my first go at Katamari. So, you just... roll over stuff yeah, and try to get the ball as big as possible?

Seems too simple!

In the full game, you are generally given a task: get the ball to XXm diameter within the time limit, or pick up X number of special objects, or avoid picking up certain things ... it IS a simple fun game, the only time any kind of strategy comes into play is figuring out the best path through the levels to increase the size of the katamari faster.

Also for 360 achievements you have to find every type of object, which might appeal if you're a collectamaniac.

is this seriously ?34.99 over here? I thought it was a budget release in the US.

It was $40 in the US, and a similar amount in Japan. The DLC levels cost another 1500MSP though, so it's not so cheap in the end.

Yeah it will sink like a stone over here, especially on the 360 and at that price. Wait a bit and it will be in every bargain bin going.

I really enjoyed the demo for this seeing as it was the first time I've tried a Katamari game. It's great that Atari are publishing it as I was getting worried we weren't going to see it here.


I would like to buy it on launch but I'll be keeping my money for Rock Band. Plus, it does seem likely the price could fall fairly quickly, so at least I'll be able to save some money!

My copy arrived last night and although I haven't had much time to play it yet, its a lovely game. I'd even use the word enchanting to describe it, but I'm aware of how that might make me sound, so I won't. Oops, too late.

I hope to get some time with it over the weekend and once I've figured out the menu system, should be well on my way to getting in to the game properly. I've never played it on a PS platform, so its all new to me.

Haven't had much time on it due to work, but so far, I'm loving it. The visuals in HD are nice n crisp. The music hasn't really bowled me over like We Love Katamari did. But it's early days. Noticed a few frame skip stuttery moments and I'm finding it a little tricky using the 360 sticks for some reason. Other than that, it's great to be talked at by the King of All Cosmos again

I think my lack of Katamari experience is going against me! I'm slowly clearing levels but getting pitiful scores and often just running out of time whilst being nowhere near the target size.

I've played through most of the first and finished the second and third, but on the short session I had over about 4 stages, my scores were between 20 and 40 pts. Maybe it's because it's been a while? lol or not.
