I'd love to get flight sticks for this game...

Recently played through the game and to my surprise I managed to do mission 9 on my first shot which was a bit of a fluke, I think it was mainly because I was just not paying much attention and winging missiles all over the place and resupplying. Normally this mission takes so many goes as I keep smacking into one of the airships while trying to get the weaponry on the front destroyed. I think it was a quite a bad mistake not to have any form of checkpoint on this level.

As I wasn't seeing enough airplanes at work, I decided to buy Ace Combat for the 360, question being if the US version will run on a Japanese console. VGP doesn't have the game listed under the region free section but Play Asia lists the US version being able to run on JPN console (but not on European ones).
Or should I just go for the JPN version with all those crazy Idolmaster paint schemes, IIRC the JPN version has english voiceovers that would partially overcome Japanese briefings.

English text in the JPN version too.

I think this game is sooooo good, and fantastic on the projector.

Even now the visuals are breathtaking.
And now another year passed and I went back and finished the game.

Really enjoyed the last levels and actually apart from the madness of level 9, I think this is one of the best in the AC series.

It still looks wonderful on a projector too.

I desperately wanted the sticks when I had the game too but couldn't justify spending ?150 on something to improve one game when I knew that 4, 5 months down the road I wouldn't even be playing it anymore.

?150... Plus shipping, plus tax... I dropped ?191 on mine!

But you know what, after digging the game out again last night, and remembering how cool it was on the projector I have to be honest & say I don't regret it.

The new Ace-Combat will have just a tiny bit more focus on landing/take off, and that suits me. I don't want a SIM, but I find it incredibly relaxing to take the planes for a spin on free mission mode. Zoom up above the cloud line and use the little thumstick to look around.

The games 3 years old, but I can assure you, with the ACE-EDGE, a 180" screen and the volume on high it still feels like you are sat with a million dollar flight sim!

                Niche? Well yeah.

                Cool? Damn straight!

Haha, I don't doubt how much fun the sticks are to use and how much they improve the Ace Combat experience. I'm thinking where they really come into their own though are the multiplayer modes?

Not sure about that, as I've only played VP coop. The Ace-Edge does have a nasty dead zone though, but in a sense I feel it makes it more like one would imagine a plane to fly like.

                    ...speak to me goose...

I eventually bought a Saitek Av8r which is fairly cheap but quite pleased with it, still enjoy playing through the game.

Does the game support all Saitek USB HOTAS or it's limited to the dedicated X360 controller or the AV8R?
